Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Where was the confirmation? Not saying don't believe you just looking for it question now who steps up?

I know somebody with the team, but I'd rather not say in exactly what capacity and risk his getting flak. I think the intention was to have them try to skate at this morning's skate, but it may not be possible, and I know Coach U and the staff don't mess around with head injuries.

You would think that would go without saying, but not everybody is as careful as logic should dictate.

I would love to be wrong on this information - because it means Kevin and Grayson are both healthy, regardless of the outcome of tonight's game.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

If no Goumas and Downing tonight, UNH needs to play conservative and trap, trap, trap. Playing the trap is ugly and not real exciting for the fans, but it can be effective in slowing down and disrupting a speedy and highly skilled team like UML.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Because it cost 77 bucks per ticket, 5 arms and a leg to eat there and they ran out of food before the 2nd game on our side of the rink? Better to go somewhere else, get real food and relax? Left so we could get home before 3 AM? We stayed for part of the last game but bugged out after the 2nd. After sitting for an hour to go 3 miles to get off the highway (couldn't believe it) and missing all but 5 minutes of the 1st I didn't feel like sitting another hour trying to get to the highway to go home. I've been to conferences that had 300 people at the Raddison and sat 30 minutes to get out of the garage afterward. I figured the Manchvegas police would be no more useful at the end of the game than at the beginning.

I'm assuming you came into town via the Granite St exit; while it's the most direct, as you discovered, it's not the fastest. And you were stuck at rush hour, even worse; I blame that at least partially on the timing of the game - 430 on a Friday? *sigh*

Actually, after the game, Manchester blocks off the corner of Granite / Lake and Elm Sts to allow faster pedestrian flow, and they have an officer at the main exit from the parking garage. Because nobody from Elm can turn right onto Granite, it's usually fairly easy to get out to the highway. Easier still if you look up alternate routes (like going up commercial to the Exit 6 rotary). Sucks you missed so much of the game.

If you ever have chance to travel to Manchester again (like, say, 2015 Regional), I suggest taking Exit 4 off 293, and then you just come up Elm St from the South. Park at any of the private lots - same price as the garage, and walking distance to the Arena / food choices.

If its true that Goumas AND Downing are out then there will have to be some big changes

I think the hypothetical offensive lines should be

Speelman-Sorkin-Block: Sorkin has some offensive talent and Speelman and Block will give the line the ability to play defense
Thrush-Silengo-Henrion : We should not touch this line
Correale-Camper-Willows: Line worked great earlier agianst BC and the other games over winter break
MacDonald-Pavelski-Galdrault(sp)?: I think this will be a solid defensive 4th line

See my numerous other rants about how everything is controlled by TV (especially on the "Attendance at Regionals" thread)... :)

The problem is the traffic light at the end of the ramp and the two leading up to the arena. Once I got past those there was little traffic around the arena, at least yestersday at 3:45. The only police I saw were in front of the Verizon. You would think they would be working the traffic light intersections to get people off the highway. That's got to be a major safety issue having cars backed up on the highway like that.

That's the problem I had with the call. I basically posted the same thing last night. It was like the guy is hurt we need call something. If Goumas gets up quicker do they even make a call?

No, you are right, the refs definitely would have not made the call, as one of the refs saw the entire dirty hit to the head and just skated away. And, two of these horrible CCHA refs will likely be back in the game tonight.

Re: Denver vs New Hampshire 3/29 NCAA Northeast Regional

Would any of you consider TVR at forward and Quast in on D. Make your #2 scorer and the only 1 of your top 3 playing more focused on scoring. Also adds another stay home big body to what has to be a D focused game plan. Something I have pondered today that I might consider if I was the coach.

Also Lowell's 6 goal explosion yesterday was of bad/lazy wisco play. UNH must focus on getting it in deep on Lowell and out clean to center ice. No odd man rushes against. Basically mirrors Lowell's game and everybody wait for the other to blink.

Not with the speed and skill of the UML forwards. Absolutely not.

I have to say it has been an odd feeling feeling with Lowell playing as the favorite. I can understand the attraction. I remember it from our Div II days!
Good luck UNH.

And the same to UML! I hope that it's a hard-fought, well-played game, and that whichever team wins tonight, wins it all.

Id move Hardowa up before TvR. Offense doesnt just translate because you put a skilled D up front on a whim at this level. But, Hardowa would give you a big body willing to bang on the fc who would also be sound in d zone as a center. They could dress Quast and spot him and really rely on the other 5 guys to get them through. Something to consider, especially since Hardowa played up front for a while early in his UNH career.
