Wonder if he played on the club team and made the trip in case they needed another body? Since this is technically a tournament, I think you can travel with more players than the usual road trip.

He made the team from the open tryout. Wasn't playing on the club team this year as far as I know. Link says he was former President of the club team. Saw a team picture from the ticket campout with a player wearing a #3 jersey but no one was listed on the roster with such a jersey. Person in the picture kind of looked like Tyler Pham. My guess is he had to go through the NCAA Clearinghouse before he could be added to the roster.

Funny though because at least Jay Stickney sounds so much better than the baseball deeks we had to deal with prior to Jay coming on air!

In 1972-73, Ron Grahame sported a C along with Ed Hays and John Clayton. They all wore C's so Ron never had to talk to the refs in the semi-circle.

Monty said instead of bringing in another frosh they decided to add a walk-on from the 7 who tried out. This helps him keep the classes balanced without adding another frosh.

I posted this earlier (apologies) but I'm really sad about this business at Grambling. Don't know who's responsible and don't really care. It's just sad that a college football team (especially one with such name recognition) has a player mutiny on its hands.

Legendary coach Eddie Robinson was one of nature's true noblemen. 400 wins on any level of football, under any circumstances is mind boggling. I got to interview him once and he was generous and friendly and a great interview. Always downplayed how good his teams were. "I'd be surprised if we had more than 3 first round draft choices this year." "We will probably struggle to score 60 points a game."

And I'll repeat the line he used when asked what it was like to run afoul the NC$$. He said it reminded him of what the hurricane said to the pecan tree: "Hold on to your n*ts boy, this ain't no ordinary b**wjob." He said that in a room full of reporters (some were filming) and just brought the house down.

What a cool opportunity for a guy who would otherwise not be able to play Division I college ice hockey. Pretty crazy! Kind of like our goalie (Zack someone) who played a couple of years ago.

There is no excuse, none, for not being able to pronounce a kid's name on DU. Opponents are a different matter. I've had to call play by play in games between Japan and Yugoslavia, for Chr*st's sake. Czechoslovakia. USSR. Italy. Sweden. Norway. You've got to make it a priority. He's just lazy.

I'm doubtless hyper critical. . .still.
