Denver vs Alaska(fairbanks) Friday, Oct.18,2013 Gold/Goal Rush

Re: Denver vs Alaska(fairbanks) Friday, Oct.18,2013 Gold/Goal Rush

This was a unique guy. Started out coaching football at Jefferson HS in Port Arthur, TX. Beloved beyond belief in Houston. I spent a lot of time with him in his office when the Oilers made it into the playoffs the first time. A real gentleman, who would never wear his cowboy hat inside the Astrodome. It was no act. That was Bum. RIP
His Momma told him not to wear his hat inside. It wasn't polite. A Texan to the core. RIP Bum.

Nanooks had 73 penalty minutes last weekend. Hope they keep it up and our PP takes advantage.

One new DU player really stood out to both myself and Chris last weekend. Keep an eye on Moore. The kid was fueled and relentless in hustle on every shift. We'll see what his skill level is over time, but at least he already has work ethic. Very impressive!

ESPN reporting game between Grambling and Jackson St. canceled because of player mutiny. That's very sad.

Nanooks kill off penalty 16:30 left in 1st

+1, totally agree, also like Marcinew

Also Moore is the youngest player on the team

You can still buy Bum Phillips bacon and sausage in Houston (and probably other places in Texas, too).

Bum was in a pretty exclusive club: how many high school head coaches wind up as head coaches in the NFL?

He got off a great line when asked if Earl Campbell was in a class by himself. Bum said: "I don't know, but it doesn't take them long to call the roll."

The Oilers used Earl like a battering ram. If they had a lead late in the 4th they'd just give it to him 15 times in a row and defy you to stop him from moving the chains.

So, DU has not named a captain for this season yet. Any thoughts or predictions?

LaLeggia and Makowski for sure will be captains

Still 0-0

Do goalies every get an 'A'?

I think the problem with goalies is that captains have to go to the refs half circle to discuss things. Kind of tough on them when they should be concentrating on making saves. I believe Ron Grahame was a captain at DU.

Did I just hear that Didier might be injured?
