Welcome to all the DU fans-we could hit 400+ posts on this thread tonight. Much depends on how the officials call the game-lot of penalties and controversial calls and we might get to 500. Let's Go Red!!!!!!

We have an Alma Mater, too. Some of us old f*arts would like for it to be played occasionally. But so far no luck. However, we did get rid of our "racist" cartoon mascot, so it's not a total loss.

The RPI alma mater is played before the teams hit the ice for the start of the third period. Years ago it was played after the teams were on the ice, but then we started to get delay of game penalties for that. Also it seems that the current students don't know the words. :(

As far as the fight song is concerned the words were changed because the old ones were deemed sexist. For example, "For dear old Rensselaer, each man must do his part" is now "For dear old Rensselaer, we all must do our part".

I guess we all have troubles. :D

Some of us have suggested playing our Alma Mater after Saturday games, with the players gathered in front of the student section. We may get there yet. We had a "Chancellor for all eternity" who mused that the fight song wasn't "popular" enough (an unsurprising conclusion, given that it was never played) and needed to be replaced. Even he, the biggest sugar daddy in DU history, learned the lesson that money can't buy everything. So in recent years we've added a pep band and the kids play the fight song. The alma mater, in some form or fashion, is next.

WRPI audio making some weird clipping sounds-hopefully that will work itself out. Video should come on in a few minutes

Just water. Kurt will tell you that alot of the "technical difficulties" that occur up here are actually "Ed difficulties." :D

And yes, I am expecting Flaggy to do the Viagra jokes. :rolleyes:

LeBoeuf? Come to think of it, the kid does look a little like Glen Campbell (obscure movie reference that Doc will doubtless get).
