Gunning For 10
The #7/7 Denver Pioneers look to spilt their series with #19/RV St. Could State University Huskies. Saturday's game starts at 6:07 p.m. (MT). There is no national TV but I believe there is local Minnesota TV. The local Denver radio broadcast with Jay Stickney can be found on 102.3 FM ESPN (KDSP - Denver) which is also streamed for a fee on Pioneer Vision at www.denverpioneers.com. There is no videocast of the game.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

Here's a look at scoring and plus/minus figures over the past four games for each player on the DU roster. While the team's record is 2-1-1 over those games, some players have been liabilities while others have been assets. Listings are done in order of jersey number. Goals-assist-points-plus/minus.

2-Scott Mayfield 0-5-5 +4
4-Josiah Didier 0-1-1 +1
7-Paul Phillips 1-0-1 E
8-Nolan Zajac 0-2-2 +4
9-Gabe Levin 0-0-0 E
10-David Makowski 1-2-3 -5 [-5 is worst figure on the team in that span]
11-Chris Knowlton 0-0-0 -3
12-Ty Loney 0-1-1 -2
14-Larkin Jacobson 1-1-2 +1
16-Zac Larraza 4-3-7 +4 [leads team in goals and points in that span]
17-Garrett Allen 0-0-0 E
19-Daniel Doremus 1-3-4 -1
21-Joey Laleggia 0-1-1 E
23-Nick Shore 1-1-2 -4
25-Matt Tabrum 2-0-2 +4
26-Shawn Ostrow 2-1-3 E
27-Quentin Shore 1-2-3 +4
39-Grant Arnold 0-0-0 E

I repeat my contention from last night: Chris Knowlton needs to be replaced on the top line. He has been a dead weight for the past four games. Daniel Doremus, while a minus one over those four games, has been scoring and generating offense for his linemates. The same holds true of Matt Tabrum. He's scored two goals--including the team's only SHG of the season--and is a stellar plus four. That plus four leads the team along with Mayfield, Zajac, Larraza and Quentin Shore. It's time to give either Doremus or Tabrum a shot at playing in Knowlton's spot. As well as the Larraza-Ostrow-Doremus line is playing I favor keeping that line intact and having Tabrum and Knowlton switch lines. I'm interested to see if the coaching staff gives Ty Loney and Nick Shore a new wing.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

Grant Arnold out with flu for DU, 17 skaters again for DU which seems to be the norm.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

FYI, I watched the Ottawa/Winnipeg game this afternoon on NHL Center Ice and Patrick Wiercioch got an assist on Ottawa's first goal in a 4-1 Ottawa win.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

This question has been asked before: Ever heard of flu shots?
I spoke with my Dr. yesterday about the flu and flu shots. They are only effective about 60% or so of the time. I would imagine all of the players got them but they are not 100% effective. If you did get the shot and get the flu it usually isn't as bad.

Game On..........

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

There is DU's first giveaway and Sam makes a nice save.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

This sounds like a repeat of last night's game except Sam is bailing DU out.

Re: Denver at SCSU - Saturday 1/19/13

The rennovation of the National Hockey center will be "completely completed" next year. As opposed to partially completed.
