Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

Kepler definitely does not...but he does have a blind spot for those that do ;)

It's partly that, but it's more that this is ALL HANDS ON DECK. Those people who continue to make stupid jabs at their former primary opponents are selfish and endangering the alliance. They need to put their pouty little snark away and either work actively for unity or, if they aren't mature enough for that, at least S*T*F*U.

It is striking to me the difference between Centrists who have transitioned from the nomination battle to a unified front, let's call them H, and the ones who are still whinging on with their asinine takes which only say something about them and not their ostensible target, let's call them R. H is helping. R is being childish, which is merely embarrassing, but also counterproductive, which in an era of razor thin majorities is damaging.

Kep never said that. However, trix has definitely suggested he believes that.

trix can speak for himself but I have not heard him say Biden is as bad as Dump.

trix is I think I can say fairly in the spot I was with Hillary. He's disgusted with the party for the nominee but knows this is the horse we have to ride. He can't help but get in a snide shot now and then.

I did that in 2016 and I'm heartily sorry. IMO the only way to play this now is to be balls deep in Biden all the way to November 3 (Dr. Mrs.' birthday!). Joe Biden is incomparably the smartest, most savvy, funniest, most handsome man with the best singing voice to have ever graced this planet. Men want to be him, women want to be with him, and vice versa. I find zero flaws with Biden's person and policy. I am 100% enamored of him.

The alternative is a literal existential threat. The alternative is a Nazi holocaust.

So, everybody, from trix to Rover: CUT THE SH-T.

The problem with your call for unity is that you personally are a horrible messenger. Even by using terms like Centrists who don't actually exist in the Democratic party anymore. Joe freakin' Manchin is far more moderate than anybody in Congress in the GOP. He doesn't become a Centrist because the opposition party has gone full Nazi. Right there, in your first sentence, you lose the very people you're trying to reach by labeling them with a term that they themselves will reject. Its like if I made a point that 60 year olds who live like plutes off an allowance from their wives are all that's wrong with this country, but we really need them to unify behind the Dems. How exactly would you personally take that? :D

I think Luce's point is far stronger and more consequential than just that. Sour grapes is one thing, but Sanders was saying "the game is rigged" even when he was in the lead. He was extending the rational criticism of most of our institutions, which are rigged (capitalism, law enforcement, media) to the only democratic means we have of liberating ourselves. For people who are unable to discern subtle arguments, which is to say 90% of the population, that de-legitimizes the whole electoral project. It was self-defeating.

The problem is Bernie is trying to win as an "outsider" (which is a joke he is a career politician) and insurgent so he HAS to play that card. The problem is he didnt adapt it when he took the lead. He should have been saying "Even in a rigged system we can still fight and win we just need to keep fighting harder and stronger". Use it to inspire. For all the BS Trump did that was the one thing he played right. He was never supposed to win, everything was rigged but when he started to defy the odds he made himself look even stronger by pretending he was beating the odds.

In 30 years we will say Bernie opened the door to what came next...but for now it is pretty easy to see he ran a pretty awful campaign that did nothing but get the same people to say the same things and convert no one. He also was the right candidate at the wrong time. To most people (not me) now is not the time for a revolution, it is a time for a return to the familiar. The revolution comes next.

In 30 years if it happens. I have my doubts. Planet may be gone by then.

Hey, mine too!
Is she hot?

Yes, it must be a Nov 3 thing.

You also have Monica Vitti, Gemma Ward, Adriana Torrebejano, Bethany Cosentino, Aria Wallace, Eva Renzi, and Milly D'Abbraccio.

I have Jerry Springer, Peter Tork, and Michael Buscemi. Not even Steve.

I mean it is a nice try...but I am not sure getting Jesse "Hymie Town" Jackson on your campaign is gonna help much. Makes you look self loathing ;)

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

Bernie doesn't seem to understand that universal healthcare is irrelevant for cases like the Coronavirus. Italy has universal healthcare.

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

And Biden coughed into his hand less than 30 seconds into the debate

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

The idea that illegal immigrants should have the same healthcare rights as documented citizens is borderline infuriating to me.

Right, but wasn't Biden's argument to put it into place for the pandemic?

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

Ya. The infrastructure would still be overwhelmed in a universal healthcare system for a coronavirus situation but Biden's idea of paying for all people during a pandemic is something I would support.

Re: Democratic Challengers 2020 - 12: The End of the Beginning

I don’t have the mental or emotional capacity to watch a debate tonight, you guys are troopers
