Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

Just a wacky conspiracy theory. Pay no attention.

Dozens of interviews with Democratic establishment leaders this week show that they are not just worried about Mr. Sanders’s candidacy, but are also willing to risk intraparty damage to stop his nomination at the national convention in July if they get the chance. Since Mr. Sanders’s victory in Nevada’s caucuses on Saturday, The Times has interviewed 93 party officials — all of them superdelegates, who could have a say on the nominee at the convention — and found overwhelming opposition to handing the Vermont senator the nomination if he arrived with the most delegates but fell short of a majority.

That anxiety has led even superdelegates to suggest ideas that sound ripped from the pages of a political drama.

In recent weeks, Democrats have placed a steady stream of calls to Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, who opted against running for president nearly a year ago, suggesting that he can emerge as a white knight nominee at a brokered convention — in part on the theory that he may carry his home state in a general election.

“If you could get to a convention and pick Sherrod Brown, that would be wonderful, but that’s more like a novel,” Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee said.

That's the Democratic Party! They would rather have Sniffles than Bernie.

Not just planet-wide but specifically in this country as well

still not the same as exterminating 8 million Jews and causing tens of millions of deaths overall.

Bozo the Clown has nukes. He could easily turn those numbers into noise.

And that's not counting his exacerbation of climate change. Nobody knows whether his contribution to the death toll will be in hundreds of millions or only tens of millions.

He's a fascist. Fascism leads inevitably to megadeaths because it is fed by right wing fear and fury which are inexhaustible. The only thing reining the body count in is the brakes we still have one him -- and his party and his supporters want to cut the brake lines.

The point is to stop these f-cks before the death camps.

Get it?

You mean Ronald Reagan was lying to me when he said the doors were always open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here?

lots of countries with generous social welfare programs have points-based immigration systems. younger and higher skilled people are favored, because they will pay in longer & more before they become a drain on the system

Those countries don't have that b1tch in New York Harbor.

We are the nation of misfits, underdogs, and refugees. We are not a f-cking country club.

But if you give me the invitation
To hear the bells of freedom chime
To hell with your double standards
We're coming rougher every time

Calm down. This is all perfectly normal. We've always been at war with Eastasia, just as we've always had concentration camps.

Some of you enjoy a good circle jerk. Rather than respond with anything of value you just see who can one up the next guy with a more ridiculous post. But sure, people like you guys are part of the solution!

You're the one that just decided to newly hop on board here.

Don't like it? I'm sure there's lots more social media sites the Russian troll farms could use you at. Or is Bloomie cutting your checks?

Let me break it down for you:

Kep: Self loathing plute. Wants revolution to come but willing to wait 40 years for it until after he's dead and buried. Those Beltway cocktail parties don't attend themselves after all.
trix: Broke college kid who will be primary recipient of Bernie's largesse and is expecting to never have to work a day in his life.
tica: Searching for the fountain of middle age by embracing 60's style radical liberalism which was in vogue when he was in his 40's.
Scooby: Masochist who searches for bad news to play with himself to. Banned from the magazine aisle of every supermarket in the state of Minnesota.
Rover/Handy/etc: ConservaDems not completely on board with the glory of the Sanders campaign due to regular payoffs from Soros, the fossil fuel industry, the DNC and various other boogeymen.

I think that about covers it. ;)

Hey!!!!!!!

:(

no, they'd rather have someone they think has a better chance vs Sniffles.

the whole point of a brokered convention is to find someone with broader appeal

Lets say we have a hypothetical scenario where a Sanders-like candidate leads in delegates in a crowded field, but could only secure 30% heading into the convention. The other 70% are split between 8 different conservadems. Would the Sanders-like candidate or a consensus conservadem better reflect the preference of the electorate?

This is similar to why we have ranked choice voting -- if a candidate can't get the support from a majority we should find a candidate with broad appeal that can.

you can't have it both ways. you can't have a generous welfare state and give it to anyone that shows up

well, they aren't exactly a new concept for us...

So, the New York Times is manufacturing a Dems in Disarray meme? I'm shocked. SHOCKED, I tell ya!

Regarding the convention, for me its simple. If someone, say Sanders, has like 45% or above of the delegates going in, they're the nominee. Logic would dictate that he would have picked up the extra 5% he needed were it not for the crowded field. Furthermore, given the nature of his supporters, I seriously doubt those 45% would go to another candidate once released from their commitment after the first ballot, and how hard would it be for him to pick up the rest from Warren supporters?

Now, if Sanders has 31%, Buttigieg 30%, Biden 25% etc etc, do I think you should just hand the nomination to him? No, not necessarily if its that close. But, this is all needless speculation. Lets actually see how the race plays out before we start sharpening the knives in time for the convention, despite how badly the media wants us to.

I thought Trump hated the NYT? Everyone hates them? Confusing. So do you believe that article or not?
