Clyburn is like 80 years old. I'm not sure he cares about his future standing with the Socialist Utopia Politburo. ;)

That makes him young for the Senate.

Edit: Sh-t, ticap beat me to it.

By the way, the initial phase will be called the Vanguard Transitional Politburo. We should all be so lucky to live until the withering of the state and the Socialist Utopia Orgy of All People At Least An 8.*

** Actually, it doesn't. It's all one word and roughly translates to "precision engineered pleasure appliance unit with rechargeable battery."

so this is anecdotal, but I'm hearing lots of talk from democrat friends that they are concerned about Bernie in the general and they wish the moderates would consolidate around someone like Pete and they hope Warren stays in to draw support from Bernie.

I am hearing the same and I am also growing more skeptical that Bernie can win. Trump only alienates those that would never vote for him the first place. Republicans of all sorts will still vote for him to either own the libs or avoid that daggum communist from becoming President. Bernie? It goes further than that because you have those that would never vote for him (orcs), unlike the Republicans he's going to lose some moderate Democrats and I don't see him inspiring enough to get off their *** this time around to make up for the losses.

I'd vote for a turnip over Trump but there are plenty out there that don't see it that way.

Sounds the way I feel. Give me Mayor Pete over Bernie anyday.

Edit: I was intrigued by Bloomberg but he sabotaged himself by somehow not being prepared to debate basically anything.

That depends...is he endorsing Bernie? ;)

And dont even try it Kepler you would be showing it as proof of greatness if he endorsed Warren and Bernie and everyone here knows it :D

If he endorsed the front runner, yeah, I would have nothing to say about that. :)

There may be a touch of Sanders Derangement Syndrome around here. I didn't think Clyburn made a poor decision because it was against my candidate, I thought it was a poor decision because it was for a dying candidate against the presumptive favorite.

If he wanted to make a splash and put the brakes on Sanders he had Buttigieg right there, desperate for black support. That's a deal worth cutting. Likewise if he just wanted to cash in he has Bloomberg. I'm certain he was approached. But the Biden endorsement is lame. It's throwing all your money into dirigibles after the Wright brothers flight.

For the record I think it's the exact opposite. Dump is so bad every Dem will be motivated to flush him, plus Sanders activates many people who are sick of the hypocrisy of politics and have been sitting it out for years. Also, Sanders competes directly with Dump with those who just wanted to give the establishment the middle finger.

So, Sanders loses nobody but picks up new voters and steals some of Dump's voters. It's a win/win/win.

I understand this won't necessarily convince people but I don't want to let the lazy narrative "always drive to the center" go unopposed. The Dems have been slavishly following that narrative for 40 years and it's f-cked the party, the people, and the nation.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

I appreciate your optimism Kep! Not sure I share it, but if Sanders is the nominee you can fit me for one of those Fidel Castro hats and I'll wear it proudly. ;)

For the record, I seriously doubt any Trump supporters turn around and vote Sanders with the exception of the Sanders people who voted for Chump last time out of spite. Which I've been told was a miniscule amount...up until now...hmmmm.

Thing is they weren't voting "out of spite." The Sanders/Dump voters are classic Disaffected Voters. This was their way of shooting up their post office. And so this time around they'll have two choices and we'll get about half of them -- we may get more than half because perversely Dump is now the establishment. And then next election they'll go back to voting for Vermin Supreme or, more likely, not voting at all.

This is another thing I have thought all along. That if you did want to appeal to people who voted for Trump, I just don't think Bernie is that guy. So while he could be your favorite candidate is he really the right guy to prop up against Trump? I don't see it.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

Bernie doesn't have cultists? Or does that only apply to candidates you don't like? Good lord. There are obviously simple minded people who strictly vote based on political party rather than actually listen to and evaluate each candidate. Not everyone who voted Trump the first time is a diehard supporter.

I didn't know 'Hitachi' was a German word.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

Everybody has cultists. One of the strongest of all cults is the Cult of the Center -- the people who believe in a Rawlsian pacifism of political economy in which we maintain a perfect indifference and let the general will work things out.

The problem being, of course, that not all voices are equal and not all people are equally powerful, and that sort of agnosticism is just a recipe for the powerful taking over the system and then warping it to eliminate all democratic remedies. This is the history of the last two generations and the failure of the "economic libertarian, socially liberal" model which most of us grew up on.

It turns out that a body at rest is pushed by the overwhelming force of wealth and power, and so a stable political economy includes an active force being pushed back against them. For the puck to stay on the center line we must affirmatively push on it since the other side is pushing hard on their side 24/7/365.

His record alone didn't sabotage him?

That's why we need a candidate like Bernie.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

His record alone didn't sabotage him?

I don't think it did. I've heard him answer about stop and frisk before (as an example) and delivered a much more compelling message/apology (however you want to phrase it). But for whatever reason he was totally ill prepared for the debate and became a laughingstock during it/after on social media, etc. That's a huge deal these days. He can keep throwing money at it if he wants but he's done.

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

Plus, hasn't Obama had good things to say about Bloomberg even despite his "record"?

Re: Democratic Challengers 10: If we stop fighting Nazis, the world will die.

And on that note, speaking of "messiahs", has Obama endorsed anybody officially? And would that matter? I would think he'd endorse Biden so maybe not.
