And that take would be fine if we had a sane immigration system currently in place but we don’t.

And that’s fine but wanting to deport everyone who is currently here illegally but is otherwise a productive member that contributes positively to our society is where you lose people.

You're wrong. Movies have trained us to think of Nazism as some sort of supernatural force because of the scale of murder it engendered, but that's not because it was categorically more evil than Dump and the current Republican party. It's just that it attained the absolute power that Dump and the Republicans now seek.

All the thought processes of current American conservatism -- xenophobia, intolerance, racism, sexism, violence, vengeance, paranoia -- are exactly the same as those of Nazism. It is the flowering of the Authoritarian Mind, which is always the same, and always lies dormant like a virus. They are mutations of the same diseased right wing world view. The magnitude of the damage it inflicts is just a measure of how much power it has to enact its agenda.

Auschwitz is the sole logical end point of reactionary authoritarian thinking. The only reason it isn't as bad yet here is it still is opposed. If we stop fighting Republicans, the world will die.

Did you think the German people were monsters? Not at all. They were just led by monsters. The people themselves were the same as everyone everywhere is: a few heroes, a few opportunists, and a huge bulk of the lazy, the disinterested, and those willing to delude themselves as long as they detected some self-interest in the path being followed. In other words, 1930s Germans were identical to 2020's Americans. Apologists and supporters of Dump are Good Germans. They look like everybody else because they are.

I still maintain calling others "Nazi" when all they do is disagree with your ideas is a dangerous precedent. It demeans what the actual victims of Nazism went through. It puts you dangerously close to the deniers.

Have you ever wondered why "Nazi" stood for National SOCIALIST? Yeah, the government ran the economy. Even though private ownership was maintained, the government told you what you were going to make, how much of it, what your markets were and in some case what kind of labor you were going to use.

Of course the German people - most of them - were implicit. They worked in the camps, as police officers, as guards, as office help. They knew what the camps were for. They knew what Hilter and his cronies were doing to the Jews, the disabled, the Gypsies, homosexuals, the Poles, to prisoners of war, etc. They lived side by side by the camps, they knew what the smoke meant. They read his book, they heard his speeches, they heard the news. Even with his suicide and the German collapse, Hilter still had overwhelming support of the German people. Why do you think we went with unconditional surrender and the Nuremberg trials and the de-Nazification of Germany? We needed to stamp of that generation and their twisted thinking. Unfortunately, I think we can all agree, these current day skin head psychos are an ugly throwback.

So I was at the local Veterans Club here, and I was talking to a guy who voted for Trump, but now can’t stand him. He said that he can’t bring himself to vote for anyone who didn’t serve this time around. I pointed out that Mayor Pete served in the military, he responded with “no, I don’t want a homo in there.” Then proceeded to explain that he isn’t a bigot. :rolleyes:

Marianne Williamson endorses Bernie, so this race is officially over. No way the other candidates can beat the Power of Love.

72% of the Nevada results are in and Pete's fallen below viability to 13%. He may in in trouble. It looks like Clark County alone has around 2000 some delegates remaining to report, where he's been far behind Bernie and Biden and at 11% while all the counties he's leading only have around 250. He may get some help from Reno and Carson City that still have about 750 to report where he's been in 2nd and getting over 15% there.

I also didn't realize just how rural Nevada gets in the north. It's probably also not a Democratic area, but one entire county only has 18 delegates.
