This is a decent ad, but I dare you not to laugh at the first line.

Irony died when they gave Kissinger the Nobel Peace prize.

I'll bet she gets a 5 point goose just cuz she's cute. Because that's how we roll.

Re: Death to the Incumbent!! Your guide to the 2010 primaries

It's like the inevitable movie scene where the pilot is pulling back as hard as he can to clear the onrushing mountain, except... we aren't going to clear the mountain.

I got push-polled for Erlich this weekend. It was one of the most blatantly silly polls I've ever heard -- the equivalent of, "if you were told Bob Erlich is the second coming of Christ the Lord and Martin O'Malley is a muslin librul gubmint hum'sex'yul, would it affect your vote?" Apparently other people were not impressed, either. I played with them as long as I could stand it, then asked them to hold a moment and gave the phone to my cat*.

* The funny part is, my cat isn't even registered.

Ahhh....if people can run as so called God fearin' Christian conservatives and then keep a whole 2nd family that their wives don't know about, then what's wrong with a little witchcraft here and there? Although she probably would have been better off not wearing black for the video...:D

The ad's actually brilliant. Dark, womb-like set design to calm fears and covey safety. Goebbels couldn't have done it better.

I'd love it if that dip**** actually won. Can you hear her in the well? Can't be any dumber than Coburn.

Limbaugh (a sadly underrated humorist) thought that she should have saved "I'm not a witch" for the end, then twitched her nose and disapppeared from the frame in a puff of smoke. He might be on to something. Or on something. Or something.

Interesting development in the NY 23rd race. (My home district.) The Conservative candiate (Doug Hoffman) has dropped out and endorsed the GOP candidate. (Matt Doheny.) Looks like trouble for the incumbent Dem. (Bill Owens)

I don't know why people are surprised by this from McCain. I actually think he was good on some issues in his prime, if only accidentally, and he will always deserve credit for at least attempting to foil Dubya's puppeteers (the real tragedy of the 2000 election wasn't Gore losing the general but Rove winning the GOP nomination and driving a stake into that party's soul they still haven't pulled out), but the thing he always was, first and foremost, was a calculating self-promoter. McCain as a politician never took a single stand that wasn't focus grouped first. Like with Palin, "maverick" was what was selling at the time. If he lives long enough, McCain for one will welcome our new alien overlords. He's just that guy. It probably has to do with his height.

I have a slightly different take on McCain. I don't think he was necessarily a finger to the wind kinda politician. I just think that after seeing Bennett and Specter go down, he decided he'd rather keep his job over all else. Not the first politician to do that, and certainly not the last, although it does lay to rest his "different kind of elected official" mantra once and for all.

I do agree completely that the party lost its soul in an effort to elect George W Bush, when a McCain would have been far more benefitial for everybody. From backing a whispering campaign question McCain's sanity to having decorated war vets like Dole propping up Swift Boat BS vs Kerry, a lot of seemingly good people in the GOP disgraced themselves carrying water for that administration (Powell comes to mind too) thinking they were ushering in a Permanent Republican Majority. Sadly the good people are now gone (Hagel, Warner, etc) and all they're left with are idiots (Palin, The Boner, McConnell, DeMint, etc).

This is a reference to an H.L. Menken line about somebody, right? Coolidge? My memory is going.

Remember, I'm a conservative. Lucky if I even heard of those people, if they haven't been to any of my militia rallies this year.

I do think McCain was good on some issues in his prime. However, he is the reason that UFC got banned in a lot of states. (I know seems trivial.) He managed to scare then Governor George Pataki into banning it and we are the only state in the Union not to repeal that ban.

I do think a lot of the good GOPers went all in to try and get that permanent majority. However, we are now left with the idiots as Rover so accurately put it.

Ah yes, "the good people". Otherwise known as, "the people closest to my views."

I believe I share little of Hagel's view on many issues, particularly social ones (Warner also). However, I can respect people for not delving into sheer lunacy just because a certain audience they're speaking to demands it. Case it point: Palin - death panels, Romney - START treaty will make the US unable to respond to nuclear attack.

Well. Yeah?

:p

Actually, it's a little different. "Good people" are people closest to my ethical calculus. "Smart people" are people closest to my views. :D
