Do people still do dead pools? I had a buddy who was in one for years, and he usually did pretty well. His secret? He loaded up on former professional wrestlers. I thought it was genius.

Wrestlers, pop stars, and defensive linemen.

Also any American black man over 60.

I thought we had a Dead Pool thread here at one point. Am I misremembering? Did we do it as a contest? Like, everyone got five people at the beginning of the year to add? Might have been on another board. But if we're going to incorporate it into this thread, I'm adding Prince Phillip. Still in the hospital, has an infection. The man is 99, so not sure how strong he is to fight it.

It eventually turned into the Dead Thread - this series of threads. People had stopped playing the in the USCHO Dead Pool.

Irv Cross, former NFL player, and later, the first black man to hold a network sports announcing job, as part of CBS' Sunday NFL broadcast team, along with Brent Musberger, Phyllis George, and Jimmy the Greek.

I saw them outdoors in upstate NY in 1987. It was in the 20s and it snowed and they were looking around like "the fuck is this?"

Carly Barret was murdered by his wife about two weeks later.
