Of Covid. Who’s agent didn’t tell anyone he was black before he walked out on the Grand Ol Opry stage for the first time. You could’ve heard a pin drop when the rednecks went from whooping at his name to aghast at the sight of him. It’s a great scene in the PBS country music series.

I don’t see it on YouTube. But the Ken Burns country music doc, where it probably lands at episode 5 (1964-68) on the PBS app, was truly enjoyable throughout, as an American History lens, even though I don’t listen to country music anymore.

Justice Shirley Abrahamson, 87, of pancreatic cancer. Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for 19 years and a member of the Court since 1976. A top-notch scholar and superb justice and person.

Was she still on the court or retired? The article I read wasn’t clear if she had retired due to health or was just sick.

Phil Niekro, 81.

I had to read that twice to make sure that he was actually 81. I remember him pitching in the mid-to-late 80's.
