OK, this makes absolutely no sense but I like you anyway.

hf- Saying Rush's comments are tongue and cheek and not serious are similar to saying what tRump tweets shouldn't be taken seriously at the same time he is announcing multiple things via tweets. I have never met anyone who viewed what he said as tongue in cheek. They are all in, think he understands what is really going on and there should be more people telling the truth like Rush.

This was a fascinating interview to listen to. Basically a whoops, I guess things went to far. The GOP is totally corrupted. How could that have happened??!! Made me think of this whole thing with Rush and the commentary about how he really isn't that bad.

It makes sense. If you see a news headline, or a talking point, do you take it at face value? Or do you double check it against other places, maybe question it, make sure what is being said is true?

Whatever Rush says, there's a certain percentage that just thinks, "Hey, he said it, it must be true!" That's not his fault. He knows how to push buttons for money. A modern day PT Barnum. Now, if you'll just PayPal me $10, I can show you an egress where you can find freedom from the confines of society! ;)

You have exposure to various media outlets. I know any number of people who have no exposure to any media not filtered by the GOP. They have no idea they are being lied to because they look at multiple sources who spew the same stuff. If you google it presents you with articles that support your bias. It is very easy to be completely oblivious and not know it.

Then you google the "haters" that are the villains in what Rush (or whoever) has to say. The stereotypical FoxNews viewer should google CNN's stuff, and vice versa, at minimum.

I have a co-worker who straight up thought that scientists were 50/50 on evolution vs creationism. I wish I was kidding.

The people who live inside the right wing media killing jar truly have had their brains asphyxiated. They have never been exposed to facts.

I work in a different kind of bubble than you do. Genetics research lab -- not too many people around here buying into creationism. Nearly everyone I work with is highly educated and liberal (at least the ones that are US citizens and/or aware of/care about US politics) -- even the guy that got his undergrad from West Point is a lefty. Sometimes I forget what it's like in the real world.

It's sucks. If I could do it all over again I would never, ever, ever have left academia. I would be in some philosophy department and thought of as "that right wing guy."

You are, Kep. You're Chair of the philosophy department (no, you don't want the politics of the Chair position--you're just a full professor) at USCHO Cafe Night School for Returning Students, where you are thought of as "that left wing guy." Your students come from all walks and are no longer at University for the sole purpose of obtaining the best internship, fellowship or graduate program. Not many perfect SAT scores in your classes, and only a few have read Martin Buber, but there are plenty of good, healthy minds prepared to roll up their blue collar sleeves and wrestle with the ideas you throw at them. You sometimes complain to Dr. Mrs. that your students can be frustratingly pragmatic, but you like that they are unafraid to butt heads with you. There are times when it feels as good for you as the school at 116th and Broadway.

People say a guy did that with Herr Professor Kepler 9 or 10 years ago and passed. But his tether to Our World has gotten looser as he's grown older, so who knows what he's thinking.

Olivia de Haviland (103) is still alive.

Actress Renée Simonot (107) is still alive. She debuted at the Odeon Theatre in Le Havre in 1918 and she's the mother of Catherine F-cking Deneuve.
