I don't recall seeing this posted here. Morgan Wootten, long-time basketball coach of DeMatha HS in suburban DC, died last week at 88. He was famous, among other things, for coaching the team which handed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then Lew Alcindor) his only HS loss.

I had no idea he was even sick! I remember watching him with utter amazement when I was a kid. Him paired with Keith Millard, they were absolutely dominant for a few seasons.

Wonderful sound, incredibly influential; also a great producer.

The Gang of Four were like what they said about Velvet Underground. "Not many people bought their albums. But everybody who did started a band."

I guess all those billowing clouds of fragrant and aromatic first, second, and sometimes third hand premium cigar smoke caught up with El Rushbo.
