Re: Dead Thread 2017-18: Fare Thee Well!!

Billy Graham is like the final boss of modern Protestants. It’s no wonder joe doesn’t like him.

Though, frankly, anyone who graduated (honorary or otherwise) from Bob Jones University is too close too insane for my tastes.

Wrong again, kimosabe. A good person deserves respect and, as Francis Chisolm said, "There are many gates to the Kingdom of Heaven.."

I was poking fun.

Honestly, Pope Frank is the only Christian figure of my adult life that actually preaches what I imagine the Christian God would care about. He preaches love and acceptance and is the polar opposite of his predecessor.

Pope frank wasn’t worried about the other cardinals murdering him, he’d have allowed gays, women, and birth control back into the church. He’s far better than any household Protestant name.

Sorry, but I don't believe any of that for a second. Francis speaks with a softer voice, but that does not make him a full-on advocate for any of those factions/issues. You need to read more about him.

Your assertion that women somehow "aren't allowed in", is a bit of a stretch. They've just been told they have a role, and it's not in the clergy.

He is that, but let's not get carried away. Frank is a product of the same conveyor belt that gave us Benny. Frank tastes better than that warmed over 19th century puddle of p-ss but (1) who doesn't? and (2) he's still insanely retrograde on every social advance from darkness in the last fifty years. Frank still believes all the RC nonsense about gays, and he still has that deeply neurotic misogyny and sexual dysfunction that has hung around Catholicism since Augustine, Origen, Tertullian and the other closeted queens of the stone age.

Frank is great on state violence: military, law enforcement, and capitalism. On sexual and gender stuff he's just as messed up as the other vestal virgins. I have faith in the guy's capacity for growth and I think he might begin to get a clue after say a month in New Orleans with the right sort of company, but that is... unlikely.

tl; dr: Benny was Snoke, but Frank is still Palpatine.

Rev. BG (using RBG would have caused fainting spells) apparently will lie in state in the Capitol.

Really?

A bone to the Thumpers, who are undoubtedly howling with glee because "Dur libs must be so triggered!1!1!!", and a convenient distraction.

Rosa Parks led the civil rights movement and was more important to this nation than most politicians.

Billy Graham did nothing of the sort.

Some will disagree as leading people to God is important, too. But put him at the National Cathedral, not the Capitol, for we render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's.

And some believe in astrology and palm reading. None of that sh-t has any place in a national political setting.

I agree with this.

I get that and 100% agree with the second part.
