Thom Pollard lives in my town, and I've attended a couple lectures he's given about climbing, including one he gave the winter before he was set to go on this expedition. He was a member of the group that found George Mallory's body on Everest almost 20 years ago now. He's not the first guy on Everest who's made that same decision.

He son is a freshman redshirt QB for UNH this season.
