My point is, they destroy without necessarily thinking things through. It's all for their religion/cause. Could they be smart enough to leave the dam alone? Yep. They are highly intelligent in their ways. WILL they think about the repercussions in this particular instance? I really don't know. Given the destructive behavior, I don't think they will. I hope they might.

What religious purpose would serve destroying the dam? I'm not saying IS is working with a "full deck" per se but there is a method to the madness that the dam doesn't fit.

Their method is terror, that's why they burn people alive and film it.

IS might be the only real "terror" group in the GWOT. Most everybody else is fighting asymmetrical warfare with a focused political purpose. Famously, 9/11 was not a terrorist action. The targets were their enemies: global finance, the US military, and the US government.

But IS is genuinely a terror group: create fear and chaos in which people eventually bow down to their Bad As-s Deity.

So although IS didn't blow the Mosul Dam I don't think that means they wouldn't. What better advertisement for their power than wiping out a city of 4 million?

Yep. A friend of mine and his father were watching a snowmobile race on a frozen lake - literally just standing still - when his father slipped, hit his head on the ice, and never regained consciousness. One minute, having a great time with his son, the next moment, gone.

Let your loved ones know it every. single. day.

I was at Van Andel Arena this past March when referee Butch Mousseau lost his balance on the ice while watching warm-ups. You just never know when.

Yeah, she is smart enough to know that getting hit in the head is stupid and a sure way to ruin your life.
