Re: Days Since Last Shooting II

Yeah, actually finding the public defenders office would be a massive step in the right direction. But that would likely mean helping the darkies. We all know the GOP has a severe allergy to that.

That would be an excellent start.

Re: Days Since Last Shooting II

The Air Farce (not a typo) failed to report this recent Texas cretin to NICS even after incarcerating him for a year.
Then the recent Texas cretin lies on his form to purchase the weapon.

The NICS process and system failed.

All the systems and processes in the world ... eventually fail.
Well, in fairness, it's not presently an ideal system.

Any time I've filled out the ATF form, I've always thought it's a bit absurd that I am asked to answer these two questions (among others), with no apparent follow up to check my answers:

d. Are you a fugitive from justice?

f. Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?

Re: Days Since Last Shooting II

Cops, procedures, training, public defenders, Courts, D.A. office, etc.

I know a few police and sheriff officers regionally. Their biggest complain? They don't have time to enforce the law. They are looked to now to be everything from social worker to carrying the Narcan.

Or as Russell of the Baltimore Police Department said, "We have put too much responsibility on law enforcement. Too much."

You do realize in this scenario of more enforcement there will be increased accusation of police targeting certain demographics. I'm not saying more enforcement is a bad thing, but be prepared for the logical side effects that come with it.

Not if the social safety net is financed properly at the same time. This is where the 1% have stolen most of their money.

Yeah. Those are awesome. Especially when there's no follow-up.

Actually, 11g and 11i did us a lot of good too recently. :(

More cops and more social safety net .... "guns and butter"? ;) :D

Can we get these three 1%ers, and FOOs*, to lead from the front with even more vigor and verve on tightening up the safety net? (Using their own time, talent, and treasure, of course.)

A LOT of problems would be solved if the current laws were enforced to the full extent. That means no mistakes (like in the Mr Texas case) and funding for the actual enforcement. Scooby is correct in saying that.

But no, the domestic terrorist organization known as the NRA will just keep instilling fear in the drooling "Protect muhself from gubmint n' darkies!" morons, so it will never happen.

We all know that, but it doesn't make what Scoobs said any less true. ;)
