Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

What were they supposed to do exactly? Being on the radar doesnt mean they can just charge him with something...pesky Bill of Rights and all.

Why was he allowed to purchase a gun when he was on the FBIs radar? I will give you a clue it isnt because of the FBIs incompetence...I am sure you have a cool talking point for that though.

I'm not sure how to reconcile these two sentences with each other.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

Not to mention that he may have been tagged because of Dear Old Dad.

The fact that he passed two different FBI investigations suggests that he was crazier than he was anything else, and there was nothing to suggest he was going to go all family values on the gays.

Don't you mean "Islamic compassion", not family values?

Watch the video in the link. The imam makes guano loco dad seem moderate.

Yes, no Christian leader would ever be like that.

In a video message posted yesterday, virulently anti-LGBT pastor Steven Anderson reacted to the terrorist attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, by happily announcing that “there’s fifty less pedophiles in this world.”

“These homosexuals are a bunch of perverts and pedophiles, that’s who was a victim here, a bunch of disgusting homosexuals at a gay bar,” he said. He later added: “The good news is that at least fifty of these pedophiles are not going to be harming children anymore. The bad news is that a lot of the homos in the bar are still alive, so they’re going to continue to molest children and recruit people into their filthy homosexual lifestyle.”

Focus on the Family founder James Dobson invited Faith 2 Action’s Janet Porters on to his “Family Talk” radio program this week to discuss transgender-inclusive facilities policies in schools and stores like Target, which Dobson said violate the Levitical prohibition against selling your daughter into prostitution.

“Let me share a Scripture with you all that I came across that speaks to this issue,” he said. “It’s addressed directly to parents, I think. It’s Leviticus 19:29. Listen to this: ‘Do not degrade your daughters by making them a prostitute or the land will turn to prostitution and be filled with wickedness.’ That comes right to the heart of this. It sort of feels like that’s where we are. We’re taking our little, vulnerable kids and we’re saying in the name of political correctness, ‘Here are our children. Do with them what you want.’ And I’m here to say that I’m going to fight that as long as I have breath in my body.”

He added that he was worried not only about children but also about his wife, Shirley, “being in a bathroom where some grungy guy comes in there and zips down the zipper and does things that she will remember the rest of her life.”

Even when we point a stupid Jew to Evangelical Christians, they too get angry since in their view a Jew can do no evil.

The whole culture is dumber than a nail.

Liberals and gays should all screw each other. Finally I could watch TV and could care less.

...

The only ones moaning over fifty gays slaughtered are liberals, idiots and gay lovers.

Isn't this yet another metal health issue? I read the ex wife said he was bipolar. Guns are fine in general, guns in the hands of people who have mental issues is not fine. Solve that issue and the majority of the mass shootings in the US would not have happened.

There have been some people who had previous interactions with him (ex-wife, former co-workers) who have said that he seemed unstable/bipolar/short fused, according to several articles.

sure, adults that believe in fairy tales like god and use that as an excuse to kill people have some kind of mental disorder

We could start by moving, as a species, beyond silly bronze age fairy tales.

In the State of Alaska, and I'm sure many others, it is perfectly legal to buy or sell a firearm to/from anyone in a private sale with absolutely no background check performed.

How are you going to regulate a private sale. Honest folks might abide, crazy lunatics, black market etc will not.

There are always two problems - 1) Motivation 2) Means

You absolutely sub optimize if you don't address both. Oh and how many billions does one spend to end mental health issues in the US?

Guns are fine in general, guns in the hands of people who have mental issues is not fine. Solve that issue and the majority of the mass shootings in the US would not have happened.

Guns are not allowed on airplanes, in banks or in US governing institutions. Why? We seem to have decided when security actually matters...guns are not fine.

5-10 in a federal pen. Require registration and licensing, all sales through an FFL with background check.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

This is an everything issue. I was getting so frustrated yesterday on Facebook and Twitter.

1. Guy goes into a gay bar and shoots to kill - Hate crime issue
2. Guy calls 911 ahead of time and says he's doing it for ISIS - Radical Islamic issue

It's not one or the other, it's both. I know the outcry would be similar yet maybe somewhat different if he had gone into a regular nightclub and just wanted to kill Americans in the name of ISIS, or if it was some crazy American white supremacist homophobe who went to a gay club because he hates "the gays" and had nothing to do with ISIS.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0

There is a difference between speaking out about not liking a group of folks and advocating their annihilation, yes?

Celebrating the death of the fifty seems like advocacy to me.

It's not Islam or Christianity, it's the Craziness* of either. If Obama really had yarbles he'd call it Radical Fundamentalist Violence, but the usual suspects would drop their pearls.

* Right now, there are more crazy Muslims. But that doesn't mean you drag all 1.5 billion Muslims through the mud, especially as you need their help if this is ever going to get fixed.

private sales of automobiles are tracked, right? How? A car has a title, and it must be registered. It's true you can't do something that is 100% effective -- a gun is a hard thing to track.

mandatory registration of all firearms, no ammo sales without valid registration matching type of ammo, _huge_ penalty for possession of unregistered firearm -- you must make it very risky for anyone to have a black-market gun. You must have passed a rigorous background check to register a firearm. Commit robbery, assault, any violent crime -- lifetime ban on registering a firearm, confiscation and destruction of any registered firearms owned. Ban high capacity magazines (not just new sales, have a mandatory buyback and make it illegal to posses them after a certain date)

You can make it harder for a nut job to do this.
