Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

The funny part of this is the FBI is always trying to hook the no fly list onto everything and DHS has to step in and say, "no -- that's not what that list is for, and anyway it's security theater BS you wouldn't want to use." FBI are usually the rat finks, but this time FBI was actually in the right.

By the way the purported reason -- that it would tip off the no fly suspects that they're on the list -- is the nonsense reason. The real reason is you can get on no fly because you're Muslim and your neighbor hates you because of that lawnmower incident in 1998 and phones in three "different" allegations that you're a terrorist.

And, truthfully, you're absolutely right. The number of pump action is probably 90% or higher comparing shotguns and rifles with that feature.

I love, love, love my .308 pump rifle though. Beautiful rifle, and somewhat uncommon. Pretty heavy compared to other hunting rifles though.

My first true firearm that I shot as a kid, I'm virtually positive, was a bolt .22. Many chipmunks at camp were taken care of.
22 and a 38 both at the dump and in my back yard (backed up on a meadow and the end of a very long AF base runway). Rats in the dump (I usually pretended to shoot at them and shot the cans instead) and cans on the back yard fence. No idea if they were semi auto or not. Too long ago to remember.

Sic has a new place to buy gas.

If it'd be Sauk Center and not Sauk Rapids, maybe. When I'm running from MSP to ND I'm not leaving I-94 and driving through St. Cloud for gas, especially after 7 pm. ;)

Sartell, the next town north (St. Cloud->Sauk Rapids->Sartell) has the reputation as the drug-hub of central Minnesota.

From the article:

Mr. Comey last year had told Congress that the ban could end up alerting suspected terrorists that they are being investigated, and that could “blow” the cases his agents are trying to build.

But his superiors at the Justice Department rejected that, issuing a statement Thursday saying they want to see Congress approve the “no-fly, no-buy” plan Democrats are pursuing.

Politics > Policing

In all honesty I like the FBI is terrified that people are going to discover what a clusterf-ck No Fly is, and DOJ is going to use this as a way to reform No Fly and make it adhere more closely to civil liberties protections.

Both sides are being motivated by politics.

I see the objections to this No Fly stuff, but if this discussion leads correcting the issues with it, and then better utilizing it, that is something that everyone should be behind.

Wait, so: a New York born person with homosexual tendencies coupled with mental instability issues purchases a semi-automatic weapon legally then commits a mass-shooting at a gay night club...

So our lawmakers and presidential candidates are trying to ban a religious sect from entering the country and deport those that are here, couple the No-Fly list to guns and ammo, AND ban fully automatic assault weapons?

Just making sure I've been following along. Please fill in the gaps.
