Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

I really wish people would stop using the drunk driving comparison. Because drunk driving accidents are accidents. They're not premeditated/planned like this was.

They're called crashes, not accidents. Stop using the word accidents as a description of these incidents.

That car being steered by a drunk driver didn't "accidentally" veer into that lane of traffic to hit another car head on. The drunk driver crashed into someone.
That car that blew through a red light because the driver was texting? It's not an accident, it's a crash caused by distracted driving.
Tie rod snaps on a curve and the Corvette wrapped itself around a tree? Likely an accident.
Tie rod snapped on the Corvette because the driver took the curve at over 100 MPH and skidded off into the woods? It's a @#$%^&*( crash!

Lots of gang members frequent Cabelas, I guess.

Since 1968, Illinois is the ONLY state in the nation which requires all owners of firearms who are residents of the state to register for a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card before they are legally allowed to posses or purchase firearms or ammunition.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

We are implored over and over again to remember that Omar Mateen does not represent all Muslims. But in the eyes of the usual libturds and the media, he does represent all gun owners. Hmm...

Wow...nice use of the Right Wing FB meme. That is about as creative as clickbait articles about animal friendships :D

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

Fine. It's a crash. What it isn't is pre-meditated with intent of causing death because of hate.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

I'd feel terrible if a family member of mine was in a mass shooting. I'd feel equally terrible if a family member of mine were killed in a knife attack or by a kid texting and driving. I would demand justice and punishment of the offender and anyone who assisted him or her.

What I wouldn't do is demand that we ban or severely restrict the use of all cellphones or cars or knives.

But because of the dangers we DO severely restrict texting and driving. Why do you guys keep bringing up stuff we already do to prove why we SHOULDNT DO it for guns?

Unless you're criminal, of course. Because criminals definitely don't care about a silly FOID card.

I would be fine with law restricting texting while shooting a gun.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

How about the millions of trigger happy (pun intended) keyboard (or microphone) cowboys calling for all this gun legislation because of this one isolated incident? It's no different from the Clinton donor looking to go all Jimmy Carter on people observing a religion.
THis is some kind of sick joke, right?

Also, I get the idea of owning a gun to protect your home. My fear there is I own a gun. Someone breaks in. I shoot and kill. I get convicted of murder. Or sued by the robber's family or something.
No, they are not. When someone drinks and gets behind a wheel they should be aware they are impaired. That makes it an action with the knowledge that it could cause harm.

Love the NRA comment about PC. The politicians are all toeing the line and saying all sorts of 'PC' stuff that meets the NRA's sniff test to keep the NRA happy. That is the PC stuff. THe 'logic' they apply to the world would make any sentient human being think twice. Call it what it is. They want what they want. They don't want to be accountable and they don't care what the consequence is as long as they get what they want.

*I am not a gun owner but not against ownership. I am against letting anyone get one simply because they want it.

We prosecute for texting and driving. We don't ban cellphones. Pretty sure we have laws against shooting people, just like laws against texting and driving.

No, they don't. But now the box of ammo that has an MSRP of $49.99 now costs Johnny Street Crime $60 or more cause he has to go to one of his buddies to get it for him. It's not much, but it is a slight deterrent. But then again the gun was also obtained through an illegal straw purchase, so it's nothing new.

I'd really like to see numbers in regards to crime committed with legally obtained firearms vs illegal ones. I'd wager that probably over 50% is legal, but it's not in the 90+% range. Anyone ever come across a legit stat like that?

And again...who outside of one poster in here is calling for the banning of guns? Seriously that straw man needs to die. Regulating gun use/ownership /= banning guns and you know it.

We already make it illegal to "use" a gun to shoot someone. Tell me exactly how we regulate "ownership" or purchase of cellphones to solve the texting and driving problem.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

Bill O' Reilly actually said reasonable things about guns last night on Colbert.

It was almost creepy.

A cellphone in and of itself isnt dangerous. They have a benign usage. What exactly is the benign usage of a gun?

Keep trying though, no matter how much you pretend the orange is an apple it never is going to be.

Re: Days Since Last Mass Shooting: 0 - II

Well, I was wrong. The gun this guy used wasn't an AR-15. It was a Sig Sauer MCX. Which after the advertisement I saw for one is built exclusively for killing humans. There can be no other possible use for the thing. It also explains how he smuggled a rifle into the club cause this sucker folds up.

Wow.

You think trap shooting or target shooting is not benign? Seriously? Wow.
