Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

3-9-1 to close the season, starting point when the Big Green were ranked in the top 20 coming off a win over Clarkson. Instead? Swept by Princeton. There's too much talent on this team for that to be acceptable, and now a solid portion of it leaves. This was a pretty good opportunity for Dartmouth to get to Lake Placid and they couldn't get out of Hanover.

Nice play on the Hanover/Lake Placid part GB!

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

Well just like that a promising season comes to a disappointing crashing end! Here is the thread name: Thread: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never and it definitely is not NOW. When I will not know? Yes, I would have to say they under-performed as on paper this BG team was more talented than in recent years and you throw in O'Connor's progression and Palosik's revelation, it should have been better with bare minimum out of the first round. Make no mistake about, Princeton was the better team overall in these past two games.

Moving forward, again it sounds like a broken record but BG can build on this roster and depending on the incoming freshmen class, it could be good. The returning senior (next year) is solid and bettter than this past year's. And you throw in O'Connor and Palosik to add to that! And finally it comes down to goal-tending as it usually does ???

As inconsistent as Clark was...and he *really* was down the stretch....the size of the question mark in this area is humungous. Justin Ferguson hasn't played well enough to earn himself a game after Veterans Day in either of the last 2 years. I don't know anything about the freshman coming in outside of a news article I saw saying he just turned 21 and therefore can't continue playing juniors. I know even less about the incoming freshmen, but I sure hope almost all of them are forwards!

Assuming all underclassmen are back, there's another good core for next year, I suppose. Just wish we weren't talking about it this soon.

O'Connor was just reportedly signed by Pittsburgh, so there's that, too.

40 years without an NCAA appearance!! Coach Gaudet is a great guy but it is time for a change. He could not win with the much more talented
teams circa 2001-2008

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

With same coach philosophy things won’t get better especially on defense which struggles. Also 5/12 recruits next year ineligible do to strict academic standards

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

They didn’t. Only seven coming unless they find someone last minutes

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

Anyone know Dartmouth's out of conference opponents for 2020-21 and who the other 3 teams are in the Ledyard Classic?

Wow! Good for O'Connor and good and bad for the program; good in that it can recruit and produce top level players and bad in that BG will sure miss his fire-power!
Congrats Drew as you progress and develop on the biggest stage!

Not at this moment but the PR tweet guy will certainly put it out soon! However it is generally another ECAC team sprinkled in with a east coast team and from the west coast!

Re: Dartmouth Big Green Season 2019-20; Now or Never

I suppose the reality is that even had Dartmouth won this past weekend, the season would in all probability still be over, and the Big Green would still not be playing this weekend.

What a cluster.

and former commit, Tommy Gale, was the NCDC (or is it USPHL) GOY. Somebody on the staff has a very good eye for goalies.

David Lassonde was a goalie and works with the goaltenders at Dartmouth--could have been John Rose, too, but I'd say Lassonde is the best bet.

Without knowing, I would have to agree with you about Lassonde! Additionally, he is also very connected with USA Hockey thus more visible!

That's a great start for BG next year and hopefully it creates great competition for whoever comes out on top with bare minimum creating great depth!

I wrote this quote at the beginning of the year but I didn't think it would happen this soon!

BTW I was talking about O'Connor going right to an NHL camp in September and not a Prospect camp in July when he's done at Dartmouth, hopefully staying all four years!

Well, we know it'll be Ferguson and Stevenson competing for the top job. I have no idea who their 3rd goalie is going to be, as they lose 2 this year (Clark and Shatzer) but bring in just 1 that I know of. Hopefully they find another for insurance and practice sake. Worse comes to worst, I suppose they could look at the club team like the women did, but I don't think that's what they would like to be doing.

Wow! Two unproven goalies with one currently on the team and one coming in? Yes they will need a third goalie at bare minimum for practice sake and injury/sickness to the top two. Now since it is the I am assuming "third" goalie, they should be a little easier to find (expectations) but again the big hurdle is acceptance and cost. Regardless, how this plays out will be huge!
