Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

Irish fans, does the team shake hands after every game?

The announcers seemed a bit surprised that there was no handshake line. In the WCHA teams only shake hands after the second game.
I think we're the only conference that does it after the weekend, rather than every game. IIRC, we've (as a conference) been ripped by Eastern teams when the teams leave without shaking hands on a Friday.

Seriously? I thought they made Sonmor look neutral.

:p:D:D I certainly didn't think so. Obviously, they were slanted towards Notre Dame, but I thought they were pretty fair. Of course, I had the Minnesota game on the TV while watching, so perhaps their overt bias has clouded my judgment :p:D:D

Announcers not too shabby...Saunders stole the game for the Sioux tonite in my opinion...get'em tomorrow!!

Saunders definitely played well, but it seemed that most of Notre Dame's best chances missed the net (could have been deflected/saved of course), while a lot of Saunders' saves were from long range.

Regardless, Saunders played well (as did Summerhays), and was the big reason for the victory tonight.

I think you're right. I remember some of the eastern fans being confused over that in the past.

I thought the announcers were great. They did their homework to get to know the Sioux player's names - and pronounced them well ( except for Rowney, which everyone seems to do). Are they ND students?

The play by play guy is a local sports radio personality, no connection to the university other than his professional radio gigs. He generally works games alone, although a number of people have commented on the announcerS plural from last night. Not sure there was someone else working with him last night, although occasionally in the last couple of seasons Eric Ringel, a player forced to quit due to repeated severe concussions, would join the broadcast booth. Ringel graduated last season.

Sarcasm? ;)

...and I'll be muting the game tomorrow.

No I thought the announcer did a great job and had some stats that weren't interesting but at least he did some homework before the game and knew enough not to call half of the shots one timers. He really ripped the the officials, I didn't see anything worthy of protest but I could have missed something while I was filling Rau's water dish.

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

Notre Dame getting hosed last night makes up for UND getting hosed two years ago in the Saturday game against the Irish.

Manti needs to murder the entire SC crowd.

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

I guess I should have qualified my statement with "...at ND", since I can't travel to the OOC games. I'm guessing I never noticed it before since most of the OOC games at ND are one-off games.
Anyway, not really the biggest issue last night.

Just setting foot outside the Coliseum should take care of a few of them.

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

Listened to the radio call and Darin said that UMD shook hands both nights. I'm not crazy (regarding this).

I'm also much happier with tonight's result :)

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

Well, that was about what I thought would happen this weekend. I thought North Dakota played better tonight than last night, but Summerhays played well (other than the Grimaldi goal in garbage time). Notre Dame is a very good team, and I'm sure they will be a force come March/April.

Anyway, good luck to Notre Dame the rest of the way unless we're fortunate enough to meet up again in the NCAA Tournament. Oh, and good luck tonight in Football.

Re: Da Sioux @ The Irish 11/23 & 11/24

And a split it is. Just what I figured and I thank Mr. Saunders for that.
