D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

MEMBERS

1. Membership into the D3FHL is open to any hockey fan. You DO NOT need to be a member of the USCHO Fan Forum to be a member of the D3FHL.

CONFERENCES/TEAMS

1. Members will be placed into 4 conferences (TBA).
2. A maximum of 24 members overall (6 per conference) is allowed. If less, we will reconstruct the playoff and schedule format.

MATCHUPS

1. Teams will face off in a head to head weekly point based match up against both conference and non-conference opponents.
2. Teams will accumulate both OVERALL and WEEKLY points. (see PLAYER/TEAM POINTS)
3. Teams will then participate in a conference tournament starting week 17 (see Tournament Rules)
4. There will then be a National Tournament following the Conference Tournament (see Tournament Rules)
5. At the conclusion of the National Tournament we will crown both a Tournament Champion and Overall Champion (see Tournament Rules)

TEAM POINTS

1. If a team wins the head-to-head match up, the winning team receives 2 points for a win, 0 points for a loss, and 1 point for a tie.
2. Only a teams WEEKLY player points count towards the teams weekly points. (see PLAYER POINTS)
3. Teams WEEKLY Points are made up of the following Player Points:
• 3 forwards
• 2 defensemen
• 1 goalie
4. Teams will have a total of 4 forwards, 3 defensemen and 2 goalies on their roster, but can only dress their WEEKLY point teams (see Team Points #3)
5. Points however will still be accumulated for the entire 9 man roster for the Overall Point Champion.
6. Only 2011-2012 Mens Division II/III players are eligible for points
7. Players will be selected via the draft (see DRAFT RULES)

DRAFT RULES
i. Members will be placed in a 4 round draft based on the final overall points from the prior year. If new members you will be placed in the open spots and will have the first picks based on a random lottery.
ii. Players may only be picked ONCE.
iii. A total of 9 players will be picked (4 forwards, 3 defensemen, 2 goalies)
iv. Only 2 players from 1 team can be on your roster.
v. Only 4 players from 1 conference can be on your roster.

vi. Round 1 – 1 player, Round 2- 2 players, Round 3 and 4 – 3 players
ix. If a member is NOT available to participate they may supply the D3FHL with a list of their team prospect listed 1-50 to move the draft along.
x. The following season, each member will be able to keep drafting rights to 2 of their 9 players. The draft will then go based off of last years overall points with the lowest point total getting first pick after all new members pick

Look at the rules, look at your opponents. We will start the draft on Monday June 13th "Officially". If people want to start it ahead of time go ahead, but if we stall we will not move on until June 13th. We will be having a 24 hour rule. If you are going to be out and won't be around the forums during the summer, send me an email to remyb616@yahoo.com on how to contact you and I notify you when you are on the clock.

I've highlighted some of the bigger rules for you new people. We won't be having an exhibition week this year because we have so many NC weeks it really wont matter. So everyone will have to submit their lineup for week 1.

Also, for my sanity, when you select your draft pick(s) PLEASE do so this way:

Last name, First name, Team, Conference, Pos (F,D,G), Yr,

If you do not list it in this order, the pick will NOT be granted. It makes my job so much easier so please do so. I don't care if you give your presentation and list it this way below, but it must be in the post! It will also make it easier for me to update the web page and players picked so we can keep track of things easier. Also, it will help me figure out how many players you have from each conference/team for rule purposes.

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

Rem, go ahead and give MCullen my spot, I'm not sure what I'm gonna have for time this year.... I'd rather have someone in it that can do it every week in case I don't have time to do it.

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

My only concern with having the draft so early is that we don't know if some players are coming back or transfer. Also, we miss all the newbies / transfers.

Thoughts?

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

Are we posting are picks on the forum, and how do we know who is available(who is taken)?

All of the picks get posted on the forum.

Remy,

Can't we not start the draft until everyone has posted their keeper picks?

That would be great, but it takes people too long to pick their teams. If we could do it in a day it would be one thing, but it takes months it seems to get done. Maybe we can postpone till the end of June seeing how we have fewer members this year.

Normally as players get picked someone (myself, Prez, or CardsRule) normally update the "players picked" list. I will try and get a web page together shortly. When someone picks we normally update who is up next, and whos on deck. If someone can post the link to last years draft thread it might help you understand a little more.

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

Good point. Lets start say...July 1st? That will give everyone almost a month to get their picks in. All returning members must have their picks in by June 28th and the final list of unavailable players will be put up June 29th....

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

I'll keep my 2 Elmira Players...

Willer, Kevin - Elmira - ECACW - F - Sr.
MacDonald, Darren - Elmira - ECACW - G - Jr.

Although MacDonald may have some competition for the #1 spot at Elmira this year

Re: D3FHL Official 2011-2012 Thread

To quote Bob Emery, "Its a work in progress" but I started up a web site to try to make things easier this year. D3FHL Web Page.

Some things to look at:
-Top 50 Returning Forwards
-Top 25 Returning Defensemen
** These are strictly off of goals/assists points. I will try and go back into last years data base and do total points

-Unavailable list: As members pick their two retaining player option, I will post them by last name, team, posistion, and member. Once the draft starts I will try to keep it updates as much as I can. I also have a scrolling banner that will list the draft order and picks. Again, I will try to keep it as updated as possible. I thought about giving members the option of submitting their teams online, but I would rather them be placed on the internet so the opponents know who they will be facing. It also helps me keep track of things easier.

We are still waiting on MCullen, Jabber, Outlaw, and UCBadger to make their selections if they choose to do so.

I really do appreciate you doing all this work to put this together, and I hope that everyone involved realizes this and takes this somewhat seriously. I am glad that you are making everyone's team viewable to all so we know who is on our opponents team; I like that. My only thing is, the Top 50/Top 25 lists takes the work away from us. I know, last year I did a lot of research in determining who my picks were, based mainly on the last season's totals (I am ashamed to admit how much work I put into it, but apparently I think I did pretty OK) and I feel like others who put the work in will have a leg up on those who decide not to put in as much work. I'm sure a few people will be excited that you did all the work...I'm just appreciative, and I see why you did.

Good point and it will save me the time! Its one of the reasons I dont participate any more. Through out the season I pick random players that are not drafted to see their point totals. Im still working on the new data base right now. I got told by the Mrs that I should get through racing season before I worry about hockey season.
