D3 to D1

Re: D3 to D1

Post, St Anselm, FP and St Michael's are all D2 schools. The only D1 is Holy Cross and they've already announced they're moving up to D1 for next season.

Remember, for Women's Hockey it's a "National Collegiate" Division rather than a true D1. As such, all D2 schools are automatically considered members of that division, but the ones with D3 schedules don't play the requisite number of games against eligible opponents to be considered for tournament selection.

Re: D3 to D1

That's true. however, it'll be difficult for the D2 schools to find D1 opponents. They really are in an odd limbo, either the whole D2 segment needs to grow fairly quickly or they will have a tough go of things. Recruiting talented players to a program that doesn't have a true affiliation and doesn't have the opportunity to play for a national championship will be very difficult.

My daughter plays in the NEHC, I see and understand their reasoning for pulling the plug on the D2 schools, and they gave them 2 years' notice.
