D3 Decisions: Running up the score

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

And your point is??????? She wasn't on the team last season when they won the national championship. Only one Canadian was on the roster last season - that's MY point. Not to take anything at all away from Lloyd, she has great talent.

If hockey is so superior in Canada, then why are so many Canadians bailing out to attend American schools to play hockey?

Ummm...cause the American Schools and Coaches are clammering over themselves to recruit Canadians. Face it, other than the anomaly last year that's, for the most part the way it's always been.

Oh Canada....Hockey lives here!

BTW I'm sure Ms Llyod will be thrilled on your views of Canadian kids playing hockey in the U.S.

I can actually answer that for you. For the Men (more D-I than D-III) its a better way to get noticed by the NHL. For the women I'm not sure.

From what i've heard...college hockey in Canada isn't all that great...might be wrong.

Almost half way there

There are a few good teams. Most of the A1 players are enticed to play for US college's thru either full or partial scholorships or generous FA packages.

Another lame argument. It shouldn't matter who's clamoring - if your hockey is so superior, the athletes wouldn't be playing here (in the US, that is)...

My point is, that you don't have to go north of the border and have your roster loaded with Canadians in order to have a competitive team or win a national championship, like you would like to have us believe. There is plenty of great hockey talent here in the US. So sorry to disappoint you and bring some reality to the discussion.

You want reality...I can't imagine what the state of your hockey program would be like, including your National Program if Canadian's weren't playing down there. It would be well....brutal.

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

Ok...The margin of victory never will be determined, exactly, by any of these. It depends on the game at hand.

Nice we had to work that hard to get this. It's horrible and means absolutly zero. I can't believe this is your deep Canadian secret. It's just pure crap . You have taken a valid side and produced no reason for people to consider your opinion. This part is for MR. or MRS. 4 Remember it may be your game but we're taking what we want from it and will leave you what we don't want, because we can. Right now we need players, so we take them.In the future we will need less, so we will leave them.

Why will you need less? Check out St Norbert College. Do you have your head so far up your arse you can't see what's going on around you? You should take an anger management course Pal/Palette. I think by some of your posts earlier on today we can tell why your so angry. Wonder what the Canadian girls on your team would think about your views?

I believe the number of canadians playing d3 has decreased in America over the past few years.

If you look at Superior for instance this season they have 6 Canadians...in 06-07 they had 13.

River Falls rarely has canadians...Lake Forest has 2 this year 5 four years ago.

They're all from Ontario...they don't mind :)

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

You were kind enough to answer my questions so I'll return the favor

1) The entire first paragraph is drivel.
2) Only my friends call me 5. Please refrain from calling me that in the future.
3) The limits are set and controlled by the coach
4) Nothing
5) We are Canadians, we always support Team Canada
6) Yes

G' bye

I completely agree with number three. My concern with it is how the coach controls it. Playing five pass or keep away so every one in the building knows what you are doing is worse then putting the petal to the metal. As a coach you can adjust personnel early enough to keep it in reason and not gear down the players on the ice. Number 5 is good to you should be proud of your national team they are talented and dedicated. But you have to realize when talking in absolutes sometimes you will have to eat crow to support your team or risk losing all credibility. It would appear you tried to have both and guess which one you lost.

Re: D3 Decisions: Running up the score

Creasemonkey....There is great talent in the States and there is great talent in Canada. Teams try to find the best talent that is available, to bolster their teams. It is a very complicated and challenging job to recruit. There are no guarantees with so many teams involved. Many say there is an unfair playing field when you compare advantages to some of the more successful institutions. My problem with you is you seem to have a prejudice toward Canadians stealing scholarships. Scholarships are earned. There is no argument here.
Running up the score threatens the balance and integrity of any league. To dominate for extended periods only weakens it's longevity. It becomes tiresome and boring. How could any team take pleasure from running up the score? There has to be a competition, exciting competition, that's what makes it fun and successful. Leagues must strive for parity, because if you lose ugly for too long a period, you will fold. Interest will diminish.

Riiiiiiight. I guess the US hockey players we have on the men's and women's Olympic teams are only disguised as Americans. You make the most ridiculuous statements.

Ummm...how do you figure I've lost my credibility? Is it because I'm against running up scores against weaker teams in D3 hockey during league play as I`ve stated? Or is it because our National Women's team beat the Slovak`s 18-0 in Tournament play in the Olympics which I also stated I didn`t think was right. You seem to think I`m hiding behind something here. I unlike you, view the two very differently. You have somehow put them both together in an effort to confuse the issue while trying to prove a very weak point which I`ll attribute to your complete lack of hockey knowledge. In fact everytime you write on these boards you prove to most that you don`t have the first freakin clue what your talking about. I agree with a previos poster about you...probably never had a pair of skates on in your life.
