D1 Transfers for 2014-15

Re: D1 Transfers for 2014-15

Might be true on one but doubt on the other. Maybe though...after the Friar season of last I am sure there is if you not 100% committed to be here and be a good teammate living by the rules of the Team there is the door. Change can sometimes be as good for programs as for the players! Life is short.

Nobody's business really. Either way I would bet that the kids are perfectly happy being done with Providence.

I disagree! Perhaps Providence is happy being done with them? There are players considering the Friars right now and this might lend some insight into the program. It's not a 4th line player, it's a USA U18 player leaving, for whatever that is worth.

Re: D1 Transfers for 2014-15

The great thing about America and College Hockey is the right to have choice.

I can say first hand these are both good kids who love hockey and are very close to their families - if they want to be closer to home mission accomplished.

This is a great opportunity for both players to improve after weaker Sophmore years than the fast start they both had as freshman.

Last season PC won 11 games and SCSU won 4.

Next fall PC will have 8 MN players and SCS will have 7 returning from MN plus these two transfers and whatever the incoming class ends up.

PC remains one of the highest concentration of MN girls at D1 - sounds like a great option if you want to play D1 and get your education paid for.

Slattery - played at two HS, her sister also transferred from her first college program UConn to play at Lindenwood and her brother Mitch who just graduated from Hill Murray (his third program) is a SCSU commitment to play hockey. This change looks like normal move after a banged up season and dressing in only half of PC's games last season.

Illikainen - is a very talented player who had a large drop off offensively (12 G 30 Pts to 6 G 18 Pts) and maybe more defensively (+/- of 0 to -25) and a jump in PIM (22 min to 40 min) (PIM and minus led the team) at PC in her sophomore year. She is very close to her family and may want to be closer to her younger brothers senior year (he is one of the top basketball recruits in the country).

Again if healthy and committed these two can help SCSU and the new coach - I wish them the best of luck!
