D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

From the RPI thread:

I was recently directed to this site by a friend, who asked me if my daughter was at the RPI vs Niagara game. He said that people were trying to find out who the recruits were. Well my daughter has given me permission to release her name, Brandi Banks defence for Stoney Creek Jr.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Per the Ontario Hockey Academy's web site:

To Colgate:

Nicole Gass, F, John Abbett's College (Cookshire Eaton, QC)

To Maine:

Rebecca Dow, D, OHA (Ottawa, ON)

To tOSU:

Julia McKinnon, F, OHA/CAN U18s (Kelowna,BC)

Anna Zorn is already listed here as having committed to Cornell. Also, Nicole Gass appears to have transfered from OHA and is playing for John Abbott College in Quebec this season.

Official announcement from Penn State:

Women's Ice Hockey Signs 13 to National Letters of Intent

http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/w-hockey/spec-rel/112111aab.html

Stephanie Walkom (D) Moon Township, PA,
Pittsburgh Penguins Elite u19 has recently committed to Penn St. For 2012.

Shawna Lesperance (F) Windsor, ON,
Pittsburgh Penguins Elite u19 and Culver Cademy has recently committed to Maine for 2012.

Pittsburgh now has 6 girls committed D1 for next year. Would be interesting to track historically and into e future which programs are sending the most girls D1.

Cool, a couple of real good players in this list.

Could not help but notice, only one Canadian in the list of thirteen, and she actually plays in the US, so not a single player from a Canadian squad.

Mind you, at last count from HUX's update, only 11 Canadian commits, so would expect a lot of Canadian content updates soon.

In Canada that would the Aeros hands down, in the US probably NAHA.

Here is the Ontario Data from a six year time span involving 241 recruits (05-06 to 10-11 recruits years inclusive).

Code:
Team Count
Aeros 53
Stoney 21
NCCP 19 ** Since 2008 known as Ottawa Sens
Durham 19
Mississauga 17
London 15
Ottawa 15
Prep Schools 10
Bluewater 10
Oakville 7
Windsor 7
Hamilton 5
Aurora 5
Etobicoke 4
Nepean 4
Sudbury 4
Waterloo 4
Whitby 4
Markham 3
T-Bay 3
Brampton 3
Cambridge 3
Cornwall 2
Burlington	2
Chatham 1
Tor Rattlers 1
Telus 1
Totals 241

Highest one year number was 13 players from the Aeros in the 07-08 recruit year. This list included Deluce, van der Bliek, Irwin, Miller, Hughes, Small, Gray, Bichard, Moniz, McMeekin, Lacroix, Manusco and Conway. Players like Irwin and Deluce played for the NWHL Aeros as opposed to the PWHL Aeros.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Noticed that Hannah Hoenshell of Plano (Dallas) is going to Penn State. She is really quick with a great shot; great hockey sense and can put the puck in the net; will be a great addition to their program.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Couldn't help but notice that there are presently 7 Shattuck U19 Girls committed to D1 for 2012-13. Defense: Burke - Wisconsin, Crossley - New Hampshire, Bender - Boston College; Forwards: Trivigno - Boston College, Russo - Boston University, Drake - Wisconsin, Garzone - Minnesota. Word has it that the two other seniors are close to making a commitment as well. Pretty good results for coach Gord Stafford and SSM.

Re: D1 Commitments 2012-2013

Yes pretty good year for SSM. NAHA has also put together yet another stellar year with 11 D1's listed so far (2 others soon to be posted). In fact, the last few years have been good for D1 placements at NAHA with 10 for 2011, 11 for 2010, 12 for 2009, 11 for 2008, etc. Pretty consistent and a testament to Bill and Jessie's program.
