D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Brown
Janice Yang ........................F ..............................(Choate) .............................Westport, CT

One of the nicest and respectful Players I have met over the years.....who will contribute to the successes at Brown. She has some of the "softest" hands I have seen. A very good Player!!

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Calling Hux -- do you know how these "early" numbers compare to "early" commits last year and before? Is it truly getting earlier? I wonder how this will effect the Ivy's ability to recruit if they have to wait until the fall to make sure a kid will be accepted to the school (first and foremost) before they can offer a spot on the team.

Interesting that Syracuse has successfully recruited a couple Minnesotans. With their proximity to Ontario, you would think they would go after more Canadians (it seems to be working for Cornell). And, speaking of Canadians, why arent' there very many of them committed yet as opposed to Americans?

Finally -- around the rinks at Chowder Cup, it was reported (rumored) that Kate Leary and Emily Field committed to BC and Brooke Simpson committed to Providence. Field and Simpson are both Lawrence Academy players as well as Assabet. Good for both programs!

I don't think there is really much of a change as far as the actual commitments, I think we are just hearing about them sooner. I suspect a lot of this has to do with the stakes being jacked up some with the U18 National team players being proven talents, and coaches locking them up pretty early. (although in the case of one program and player she was the last to lock up a spot)

Well, as I understand it, there was some weird synchronicity in that one recruit resulted in a second, opening the door for more.

Well, they are, we just don't hear about it. Apparently announcing a commitment is considered bragging in some circles up north, or that announcing a commitment will result in a coach decreasing the amount of a scholarship if they think the player is that sold on a program that they announce before the early signing period.

Actually, I know of quite a few Canadians who have already committed for 11-12. As Hux said, it is not generally considered good form in our culture to make that information public knowledge --until at least after early signing period.

There are two things I hate about Canadians....they way they effin' pace one another on two lane Interstates, the QEW, the 407 and the 400(For christ's sake, step on the gas and pass the other guy and then get out of my way) and this lame *** "bragging" mentality. W-T-F?

You spent the coin, she busted her ***, and you both earned the right to bask in the glory of a D1 commitment. So lose the sanctimonious pretense of "good form" and post those commitments so I can fill the **** list. Eh!!!

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

C'mon Hux you know you really love us and our endearing innate bashfulness!!
You need to kick back and maybe have a Sleeman's before those long drives into the great white north. It will improve your attitude!! I'm thinking maybe a M***hole sticker for Christmas so those peeps on the 400 will get outta your way. Oh yeah and no news on any committments yet eh!

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

P.S. In Canada, if you want to be able to drive faster on the 3-4 lane highways, you just need to change your tactics. Everybody wants to be in the left hand lane(s). Try moving over into the far right hand lane. It's usually open, and that much faster. :D

that is usually the tactic in L.A. traffic on the 405

In Mass, the breakdown lane is the passing lane.

And passing on the right is the norm in Detroit.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

There is no such thing as an open lane on the 405. Anytime. ;)

You are right, there is hardly ever an open lane ( I think one time at 2:57AM to 3:00AM, there was an open lane), but the lane next to the far right lane tends to move faster than the fast lane, because people aren't weaving in and out of traffic.

In my experience driving in Mass (Boston anyway), no one actually seems to pay much attention to the lanes at all....there might actually be four lanes of traffic despite 3 marked lanes. :p

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Can anyone give us who you think the top 5 players left at each position would be that aren't listed by Hux yet as "committed"?
