Heard these rumors just a couple days ago. Great news for both programs.

Heard another rumor regarding a possible additional Minnesota recruit...also great news. I'll wait for someone else to pass along that scoop. ;)

Starting from the top of the list...two fine pickups for Minnesota. Lorence a top five forward in Minnesota without a doubt...I might go as far as top three in the class. Ramsey a skilled player of considerable versatility as I understand. Father just retired from the Wild organization...I'd imagine he'll be at Ridder to lend team support and inspiration. ;) That 3rd local skater rumored to be committed is also a top forward in this class...with some serious jets.

Miss Stauber to UMD...a family connection perhaps? Nice to see a local on the UMD roster...another local that is.

When I've seen Audrey Hanmer play...my thought was she's the best D I've seen in the state. I haven't seen them all.

Two excellent "Warriors" continue the Warroad / UND connection, or tradition. Like I've said before...I hold out hope one current Warrior decides to break that tradition when the time arrives.

I like some of your comments except maybe your comment on Hamner. I think Ramsey is a much better player. Hamner although very strong skater with a great shot. Can be great does take plays off and I like Hewes, Illikanin, Evenson, Ryan, Huneke all better. Better Defenders in my mind. Hamner was the best D 2 years ago. She still is a Very good player and deserving of D1. Better offensively than defensively

I also think SCSU has a tendency to take Big name talent with attitude.

My opinion.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Um.... I think Ramsey has the hardest shot without question.
I would have to question that assessment. All the D you mention are excellent players, but I've watched a few of them fairly extensively and I can't get behind the call that all you mentioned are better than Hanmer. My 2 cents.

Taking plays off...you see that in high school hockey from time to time. That doesn't go over too well in college hockey and from what I've seen, is in the vast majority of cases it gets cured pretty quickly.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

I would have to agree with Brky on this one as well. IMO none of the 5 you put out there are better than Audrey. Fine players, not as good though.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Would it be inappropriate to start a list of "top prospects" for the 2011-12 recruiting class for a "watch" list for those who aren't listed yet.

Obviously Kendall Coyne would have to tops the list being that she is doing a PG year.

F - Amanda Pelkey -- u18s/NAHA
D - Emily Pfalzer -- u18s/Mississauga PWHL
F - Mary Parker -- Assabet u19s
F - Emily Field -- Assabet u19s
D - Colleen Murphy -- NAHA
F - Jessica Brown -- Shattuck St. Mary's
F - Chelsea Goldberg -- NAHA
F - Taylor Kuehl -- Minnesota HS
D - Milica McMillen -- Minnesota HS
F - Alexandra Carpenter -- East Coast Wizards

What about goalies? There seems to be quite a few already taken.

G - Taylor Fairchild
G - Shenae Lundberg
G - Meghan Treacy

Anyone want to add to the list?

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

It's ok to disagree. I think the others I mentioned are better defensively. Of course Audrey is better offensively. I hope you're right about correcting it. I've talked to coaches who've tried. I do feel she is a GREAT player but just not the best. I'd definitely take Hewes and Illikanin as complete players. I also think Ramsey is better both offensively and defensively. Molly Byrne is also very nice player Not a SR next year but I love Milica Mickmillan. I was only dissagreeing that she was the best D in the state.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Agree.

D - Milica McMillen -- Minnesota HS

I'm pretty sure will graduate in 2012-13.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

A senior in 2011-2012 I think...Jonna Curtis at forward, from Elk River Zimmerman high school team (Minnesota). Based on what I've seen already, I'd take her on my team anyday.

Hard enough to keep the classes straight. Think I'll stick to the class in the thread title from here on out...gets confusing.
