D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Any word on where Coyne is headed yet? Probably the top recruit in the class and still no indication where she is headed.

I'd say she and her family is being smart to keep this a low profile until she got that formal letter from admissions. If she is still angling Ivy/Harvard, you know that they won't have that magic piece of paper until later this spring. When my daughter got hers (from another Ivy), she framed it. It was one of the best moments of her young life todate.

Assuming she plans to go to an Ivy, she would have had to apply before Jan 1. Which actually means she should have a "Likely Letter" by now if that is the case. So no reason at all not to announce, as it is equivalent to offer of admission.

Given that she has not announced yet, it would suggest she is may not be Ivy bound after all...unless she has been deferred and is still trying to meet AI score requirements (less than ideal at this late date). Otherwise perhaps has decided just since November to opt towards a scholarship school and perhaps just waiting now until the April NLI is signed to announce which one.

I really hope she has learned something from her disappointing experience last year that keeping your most desirable scholly schools waiting too long is just a recipe for getting left at the altar, regardless of who you are.

Actually, I have no information whatsoever, but if I was a betting man I'd probably give Cornell the best odds of scooping her up, given she seems to value the Ivy pedigree.

I actually think if it's not Harvard, it'll probably be BC. She has a pretty close relationship with Coach King and several members of the BC team I believe.

I'm sure you are well Aware of the long and windy Ivy application process. Convinced that long time Ivy coaches such as Ms Stone knowa the tricks of the application trade and have a way to work around dates and deadlines. For a higly sought after recruit, i'm sure they can make an exception to certain deadlines (not all of them off course).

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Don't know of Jenna but it looks to me as if UNH has stepped up their recruiting. Word has it that Coach McCloskey and Coach Wood are shaking the trees in an effort to improve their roster next year and the 2012 group down the road is expected to be top notch as well. Sounds like the cats are clawing their way back.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Has the Shattuck St Mary's Senior Class all committed - last year someone listed - does anyone know?

I believe that SSM seniors Byrne, Sullivan, Turnbull, Krichiver have committed. Seniors Hustead, Cox, Harris, Biard, Williams, and Simon are still available/searching. The Junior class at SSM seems to be getting a lot of attention.

Thanks for SSM that is very low percentage only 4 of 10 seniors committed considering the fast commitment this summer and fall. Seems like they usually have 100% commitment.

The little bit that I've seen I think a couple could have a shot at D1 in the right program but have to get stronger and still have to show more in the coming two to three months. A few of the others would make decent DIII players and there is no shame in that at all - they just need a willingness to go that route and an offer of course. Although this is a 'commitments' thread it will be interesting to see how far the SSM U19's can go this year!!
