D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Was very surprised to see the score of yesterday's game between the Hurst and L'wood! With the 4-1 loss fresh in their minds I think Hurst will show no Mercy in today's game.

Tough loss for Brown yesterday to RPI. Hard to believe they can beat Colgate and Cornell and then turn around and lose to a team like RPI. Granted they're more similar to RPI than they are to Colgate and Cornell. They have a chance to win 3 out of the last 4 if they can beat Union today.

After two periods Ohio State and Bemidji are tied at 2-2. The Buckeyes have a narrow 22-19 edge in SOG.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Halfway through the 3rd Bemidji is up 3-2 on Ohio State.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Open net goal with just under a minute to go, 4-2 Beavers.

Edit: And it's a final, 4-2 for the sweep.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Was checking out all the scores from the weekend. 5 Non-conference games on Saturday...all go to OT. 4 stayed tied....hmmm

Northeastern has quietly put together an 11 game winning streak and has moved up to No. 2 in the Pairwise.

Nice job by Northeastern. Haven’t looked st the rest of their November schedule, but I believe they have all of December off, then play Clarkson in Northern Ireland in early January and then play Boston College days after returning home. They’ve already impressed me, but if they can be successful in that early Jan stretch I will be REALLY impressed.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

On surface , more parity then past years. Especially between ECAC and CHA. Even some of the top ECAC teams didn’t escape ( add Sunday’s Cornell tie). This links to my idea of the value of a scholarship. Kids will go to a traditionally weaker school for $$ and playing time. Maybe not going to get playing time at Minnesota or Wisconsin and the Ivies cost too much...there are options

They are legit, have watched them several times this year. From top to bottom

They are legit...
The question with NU, is how good are the Huskies? It is hard to evaluate them when most of their schedule has been teams that they really should beat. At the time, the split with Colgate looked like a good result, but the Raiders are kind of an enigma this year. The Huskies will play BC in two weeks, and a pair against Clarkson and BC after the new year. Those five games, the Beanpot, and the HEA tourney will provide an indication if Northeastern will make the NCAAs but no more, or if it is a contender.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Clarkson 9 Brown 1 (Could have been even larger margin, 3 posts and 2 stopped breakaways in the first)
Sauve out with a concussion, Her helmet broke on a taking a shot during practice and she suffered a concussion. Hopefully she won't be out long.
Soph Kia Castonguay with her first collegiate start stops 17 of 18

Princeton 6 Colgate 0 WOW Did not expect that score.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

What a difference a day makes, Yale 3 Clarkson 0 after 1 period.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

Minnesota takes a 1-0 lead over St. Cloud State after one. Unassisted shorthanded goal by Kelly Pannek. Gophers with a big 17-7 shot advantage.

Re: D1 2018-19 scores, discussion, etc

The Huskies tie the game off an ugly turnover in the Gopher end to make it 1-1 after two. Goal by St. Cloud's Brooke Kudirka, her first of the season. The Huskies managed just two shots on goal in the period, but one of them went in. Total shots on goal now stand at 30-9.
