D-III Rosters Starting to Pop Up

Re: D-III Rosters Starting to Pop Up

Superior looks like it has cleaned house. 9 Freshmen on a roster of 21 with only 2 goalies (both new).

As said before, Superior had a lot of seniors last year. The biggest loss of course was Kunzlemann. My major concern is the goalie situation. Hearing things about Torgerson from RIT that makes her sound a little iffy, but should be better than a freshman to start off the year.

Re: D-III Rosters Starting to Pop Up

We'll see if the results translate to the ice. Fifth season now of the program. Gotta be getting close to a make or break year.

Agreed. I think it's reasonable to expect them to contend for 4th place behind the big 3...with an upset of one of those 3 possible if they can get good goaltending on a given day.

It's a strong group of Ontario kids coming in, and Lee and particularly McNaughton provide a couple of proven upperclass scoring threats.

As you said, its time for walk to match the talk. There aren't any excuses for not showing big improvements this year. It's tough to take huge steps up the standings because the big 3 are so much better than everyone else right now, but there should at least be consistency in handling the weaker teams and the ability to throw a scare into the better teams consistently. No more 6 or 7 goal butt-kickings.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Re: D-III Rosters Starting to Pop Up

it still blows my mind that they brought in players from Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. How SNC got european players at the D3 level, I don't know.

girls who decided to go to school at SNC and just so happened to play hockey as well? idk either, but I doubt they're going all the way there just to play hockey. One played at Warner too...so they were already in Canada

ECAC Women's West: Buffalo State, Cortland, Elmira, Oswego and RIT have all posted their rosters

Re: D-III Rosters Starting to Pop Up

When do all of these teams start skating officially? The Nescac teams can't step on the ice in an official manner until Nov. 1. Does the put the Nescac teams behind for the first quarter of the season? What's your opinion?

NESCAC has a policy of not allowing teams to cross seasons (fall, winter, spring) for thier team sports so athletes can participate on multiple in a sport each season without worry of coachs' reprisals. Very appealing for girls who want to play field hockey in the fall and lax in the spring in addition to the hockey.
