D-III Players to Watch in 2011-2012 Season.

Re: D-III Players to Watch in 2011-2012 Season.

Heard rumblings about #33 Eric Gulseth and #13 Matt Webb from team rowdy crowd. Rumors of lots of player-on-player massages, beer drinking, and a** waxing. These boys may be looking to help push their team of into the novice division playoffs at the pond hockey tournament after a 1-2 record last year. after that, we heard about a new school popping up in the stevens point area that will allow them to apply for membership in the mcha. These are up-and-comers who may give Northland College a run in a few light years.

I think Tim Coffman from Utica could play D-1.

Re: D-III Players to Watch in 2011-2012 Season.

There's a decent amount of players who could play D-I.

The first line players for the top schools like Norwich, Plattsburgh, Elmira, Oswego, St. Norbert etc could all probably play on average to below average teams. The difference is, in D-III they are stars on the top lines. In D-I they would be struggling for playing time or a third or fourth liner.

just because you were on a d1 roster doesn't necesarily mean you're going to tear up d111.alot of transfers become mediocre players in d111,for whatever the reasons.there are always exceptions,of course.

Exactly, and while most good D3 players would be marginal at D1, there are many exceptions to that rule as well. With more and more D1 players being snapped up for commitments at such young ages, it's harder for them to live up to expectations. A player may be great as a 15 year-old but never really improve despite showing up on a top level D1 roster, while another player may be overlooked, come into his own at 19, 20, or 21, and become a D3 star.

More on topic, look for Tory Allan, Travis Janke, and Pier-Olivier Cotnoir to have huge years for Norwich. While Kyle Thomas is the gamebreaker that gets most the attention, I think these three will be the top forwards day-in-day-out. I also really like Zac Fulton on D. He's just a smart puck mover.

Jordan Gidaro freshman forward for Plattsburgh State. Watched some video of him looks like he has good hands and some decent breakaway moves, it also showed some hustle in getting back to help on D. He was recuited by Western Michigan, not sure why he ended up not going there. Others to watch Zach Vit from Geneseo, Luke Moodie from Oswego, Jordan Keizer from MSOE, Parker Carroll of Norwich (Has to prove that last season wasn't some fluke), Paul Beckwith from Oswego (Last season to prove he can stay healthy for a full season). I am sure I have left a ton out.
