Culvers Camp Randall Hockey Classic: Michigan vs UW.. Brrrrrrrr!

Re: Culvers Camp Randall Hockey Classic: Michigan vs UW.. Brrrrrrrr!

I'm just hoping the students avoid an FU! ES! chant. Never liked that one.

Re: Culvers Camp Randall Hockey Classic: Michigan vs UW.. Brrrrrrrr!

Hey, is this thing going to be played on an Olympic-sized or pro-sized sheet?

Re: Culvers Camp Randall Hockey Classic: Michigan vs UW.. Brrrrrrrr!

So for us out of towners, anything we should do in Madison...besides drink?

Eat :D .

Go ice skating, ice fishing, ice boating @ 100 MPH (much of the snow is off the lakes), sledding, snow shoeing, you get the "drift".

Considering that the Kohl Center houses a near-Olympic sheet, what's the reasoning behind that decision?
I believe the answer to that is - that's what the temporary outdoor ice rink folks are prepared to provide.

So what is the deal with tailgating in Madison? I've only been to one Badger football game, and we just went to the bars.

I hadn't thought of it until just now, but I suppose you can't just whip open your tailgate and start drinking, can you?

We have a group of 20 or so, so what's our best bet for all congregating to drink (and eat a bit ;)) in one area before the game?

One thing about making it a game with Minny is that it would likely have to be a 2-game series.
Having an outdoor is already stressful enough with having to deal with the weather, making it a 2-game series just like any other weekend would make it even more stressful and would open up the possibility to even more problems.
You really never know what kind of weather you are going to get in early February. It could range from anything to -10 to a foot of snow the day of the game to 35* and rain to 50*. All of that poses problems that dont really exist when the game is indoors.
I would have loved to have been it be UW vs Minny, but I look foreward to watching the Badgers beat up on Michigan. Its going to be a fun game.
I think its really cool that they are having a public skate on Friday night. Ive got tickets to it and Im looking foreward to it. At least now I'll be able to say that I skated at Camp Randall. :D

Very FAR away from Camp Randall. It is a zoo nearly everywhere when people can go outdoors but they will be forced inside for this one. I absolutely hate packed bars where you cannot get food, move and most of all cannot get a timely drink! I really have no advice actually. I live a block away, so I am just hunkering down with 3-4 kegs and 50 of my closest friends. :)

I bought tickets to the Badger Warmup. At $20 for free food and free beer, you cant go wrong.

Wandos and the Nitty Gritty are fun bars and if you want burgers you cant go wrong with Dottie's.

Re: Culvers Camp Randall Hockey Classic: Michigan vs UW.. Brrrrrrrr!

We had ours planned before BU/BC had theirs. They simply jumped on in with the NHL winter classic and road those coat tails.

this is not true. bu and bc had been in talks about a game there for years, in fact bc had gotten the rights from fenway to host such a game years back.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "free".

Carry on.
