I worked thru the H1N1 times in a family practice. We were inundated. There was excellent leadership from the top on down. We had clear direction, information was released in a coherent way, the public health depts were supported.
This is a cluster fvck. None of those things are occurring. I posted this somewhere else but I will ask it here- I wonder how they will spin all this foolishness when their base starts to notice the resources, testing they need isn't available and people they love are dying

I don’t think facts will work here.
Really chaps some people that previous president handled that one well and had people tested.
Those of us who didn’t agree with the previous administration did not do the following: 1) stonewall and badger every day. 2) yell “impeach” every day 3) ridicule, condescend and name-call ANYONE who disagreed with their views or call them morons or uneducated 4) say “If you didn’t vote for Obama you’re a racist”. We accepted the results and moved forward. It’s too bad that you (that’s a collective you, before you start attacking me) never have.

Sh1t! I wish I lived where you are describing. Even if this were true- what in the world has this to do with anything. Obama has been gone for 3 yrs now. Move forward as you say you did last time. We are talking about now. If someone says something moronic they are moronic. If they say something uneducated and stick by it they should be called out. Being stupid about something but being willing to educate yourself is great. Clinging to stupidity is not something that gets a pass. Whining about being called stupid for doing so doesn't impress anyone but yourself

The first link is literally conspiracy theory nonsense.
What's there to dismiss in the 2nd link? It's simply an article pointing out that those who die from the disease are elderly, and that nearly everybody who is not elderly or with a pre-existing condition will recover. All this is known and accepted. However, a widespread contagion will almost certainly overwhelm the health care system (as it has in Italy currently) and will cause many, many more of those elderly patients who may contract the virus to die from it. Hence the attempts to stop the spread of it.
EDIT: Oh God Attkisson is an anti-vaxxer. I can't even..

I have a young kid. When she says something that's incorrect, I provide her with the information needed to say the correct thing the next time. If she doesn't listen to the correct information and decides to continue saying the incorrect statement, she is either being A.) ignorant or B.) lazy. There is nothing wrong with being misinformed or lacking knowledge about a topic. But as an adult, you have a responsibility to do your due diligence so that you can attain the facts. To willingly not do so is either A.) ignorant or B.) lazy. My point is you can't get mad at people for calling you stupid if you're willingly being stupid. If you genuinely don't know any better, then that is one thing. But in the era of Google, the only person you have to blame for your ignorance is yourself. When you get upset that somebody calls you stupid for sharing a truly stupid opinion, your anger is merely a projection of your frustration with yourself.

My father passed just after the Orange Man Child was elected after loosing by 3 million votes. That was the only time in his life that he didn't vote for a Repub presidential candidate, or any Repub for that matter.
He immigrated with my mother in the 50's to the U.S., but during the leadup to and War he saw how Hitler brainwashed a generation by telling all believe only him, up is down, black is white, etc. Only his, Hitler's news was fact, and the masses followed.
Fast forward to the rise of Trumpism. My father said it reminded him of the rise of Hitler with the same brainwashing of half the country who again believe up is down, black is white., etc. Established a state run TV, Fox News, etc. He could never vote for someone that deceitful.
We used to go to Atlantic City often, and followed the conversion of a seaside resort into a casino mecca with all the dirty money involved back then. Of course, the soon to be Dear Leader got involved, completely milked the local business community, stiffing anyone who signed a contract with him and forcing them to go to court to collect, with obvious results. He has a crooked stink attached to him you can smell a mile away. But again, up is down, black is white............
