Excuse me but this is NOT the black plaque or even close. Getting COVID19 unless you are compromised in your health or much older typically when the immune system starts breaking down is not that big a deal. Until I start hearing that everyday healthy younger people are dying its just like any other virus.
Personal example, West Nile Virus years back was a scaremonger as well. It's been years but still very little is known about it. Most likely MANY of you have it in your system yet you had no reaction OR you got mildly sick, intestinal issues, fever, etc. A small subset of that group gets sepsis, encephalitis and possible long term neurological issues, REGARDLESS of age. Of that group, most often much older people die. I've recently studied this, why? i was part of that group with the sepsis and encephalitis, the sepsis almost killed me. I'm immune from it now but so are many people and NO I do not have a compromised immune system based on the battery of F##### tests they ran on me.
The media is blowing this up and not giving full reports, ie huge headlines deaths from COVID19 in Washington, it was only LATER they mention it was in a nursing home full of the elderly and sick.
You can NOT catch it twice as claimed here, and thats already been discussed by science and how that claim was false.
This is a PANIC
Different sport, but Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz has tested positive for coronavirus. That could be the end of this season's NBA play - at least until summer, when/if this dies down.
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see neither NCAA tournament (bball or hockey) happen. All it will take is one student athlete testing positive, and you have a whole bunch of teams that need quarantining.
EDIT: According to Shams Charania of the Athletic the NBA has suspended the season. Also reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Closings, canceling games etc., are smart if your area is seeing cases of it. Up here in Maine, nothing YET, so drop the puck.
Except you would be bringing in Vectors.I'll listen to any talk based on facts and common sense reasoning. Thats all one can do. The problem is where you get your facts. Sadly, even what is a fact now is debatable.
One problem I do have is the influenza comparision. There is no comparision until there is a vaccine for Covid 19. If 20000 people die from the flu with millions vaccinated(approx half the country), can you imagine how many would have died if there was no flu vaccine? Covid is many times more deadly with no vaccine. Think through that fact.
I actually read where someone said "look, its subsiding in China so not that big a deal" REALLY??? Are you capable of any sort of thought process here? China cleared the streets of millions of people under military threat. Want that to happen here? Not I. I

I had so many people asking me for info I sent out an email with reputable links/good sources of information-
*Sites that have an accurate count of presumed/confirmed cases (CDC is NOT accurate for up to date cases- they are lagging by days in some cases, only list their confirmed cases, not cases that State labs have tested):
NY Times- they seem to be the most up to date- https://www.nytimes.com/interactive..._Ug3hNmgOq-EGt3FBVnAoFg4diPV11bBMkKrJQApVafzA
Johns Hopkins-sites.https://developer.here.com/coronavi...xXQuq1U8_SqbKNt1SjneQmeOzTmBPNOE-pduM7BOQ8wM8
Sites with easy to find information

CDC- https://www.cdcgov/coronavirus/2019...Er3m4P1_IH02_0tIg9g6Y6IAGL5KXatB6m2iZKORQMFpk
Of note- this is link to CDC info handout. The site appears to be lagging behind many of the other sites for up to date information. There are some concerns the statements/ recommendations have been contradictory or not as strong as they should be. When in doubt seek info from other sites or default to the most stringent recommendation.
Regrettably, at this time, it is unwise to rely on statements coming out of the White House regarding recommendations or the status of what is happening*. Unfortunately almost all statements made to this point have contained contradictory or incorrect information. The WHO and CDC have been careful to immediately correct the misinformation but it is causing confusion. Take home- Make sure to check one of the other sites to confirm information.
* since I typed this they have decided to classify meetings where information is shared and have excluded some of the experts. Jared Kushner is in charge of a task force (with no previous experience or knowledge of either government or public health. Would double down on trusting information only if confirmed by a source not connected to the government- except the wonderful guy from NIH but I think they will work hard to muzzle him.
The way this is trending and developing (NBA suspending season) we may have seen the last puck drop on this college hockey season.
Three consecutive self quotes. A fan forum natural hat trick.
Edit: and he adds the fourth before I can type my post
I'm hoping he cleans up after himself because if I have to go log on with the other account and do it I'm going to get cranky.
(hint, hint BlackI)
