Ok, throw her into the volcano.

Re: Covfefe-19: We're all getting $5/hour more in hazard pay!

I don’t know if there’s a formal fallacy for this, but it should be called “fallacy of the equality of large numbers.” “Well, the best we can do is 100k deaths, and that’s already so horrible to think about that it doesn’t seem like a million deaths would really be that much worse, so why bother taking the painful steps needed to keep it to 100k?”

It’s worse. Much, much worse. Just because our human pea brains are not able to contemplate large numbers effectively does not change that reality. Reality does not give two hoots about your perception.

There is a Fallacy of Large Numbers, and it's wonderful, but it isn't this.

LMAO. So which is it? We don't need the ventilators, but we do? We only need them if GM and Ford can sell them, so the gubmint doesn't have to pay for them as part of the federal response?

The Dotard is strong in him today.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Why is he *****ing at people to make stuff when he has the power to force them? I don't get it.

The crazy part is there will still be a large amount of people who think this is the best system. No health care for many, bankruptcy for many who have it, socialism only for corporations.

Re: Covfefe-19: We're all getting $5/hour more in hazard pay!

Don't give up now when we've nearly won. We have perhaps another century until the remainder will be in zoos as a proto-human link from animals to mankind.

One, I'm not giving up. I do the work I do because I believe we can do better. Two, we are nowhere near close to winning. Yes there are more of us than there are of them, but if the number of them was as low as you seem to think, we'd have already won. Three, we don't have another century. We are killing the planet faster than we are saving it. We need to step up our efforts and step them up fast.

I know I can't save the planet. Only WE can save the planet. I do my best to help my surroundings.

In my darker moments I believe the only thing that can save us is for things to go that far south in the South. As long as there are enough white bodies stacked up among the dead that is. Because at the end of the day, like most calamities in this country, this one will also probably affect POC a lot more.

Re: Covfefe-19: We're all getting $5/hour more in hazard pay!

And that's why knuck Texas counties are declaring all their business essential and ordering everyone back to work. Literally, essential to their richest citizen's portfolios, because that is who government exists to serve.

We have never evolved very far from the Lord conscripting his serfs to give their lives for his land holdings. Force majeur.

Except Planned Parenthood. Not kidding...

Re: Covfefe-19: We're all getting $5/hour more in hazard pay!

A month ago many of my members were complaining that this was a liberal media hoax designed to hurt their dear leader. This week, many have complained that their employer is forcing them to work because the government has deemed their employer an essential industry. It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly hypocritical the right wingers really are. Combined with their alarming stupidity, hatred of anything that presents itself in their mind as "intellectual" and some healthy bigotry thrown in for good measure it is no wonder I have so little hope for the future. I need my old job back. At least those union members got what our union was trying to do and I actually felt like I made a difference. Here, I am just collecting a paycheck, which makes ME a hypocrite.:(

At least two people I know who thought this was a hoax (right wing small business owners) are now equally angry people are working and putting their kids in day care because of the risk. They dont even see how stupid they look now.

BTW US total up to 93K. NY pushing 45k alone.

I'd settle for Lee Harvey Oswald. Or John Wilkes Booth. Or Charles Julius Guiteau. Or Leon Frank Czołgosz. If that doesn't move us forward then we can order up that meteorite.

You know how you could make that happen? Invoke the Defense Production Act.

Who'd have thought that Kep might actually get his tactical nuke on the South after all...

Ha. I came across that one (but just now learned its name) back in the 90s. We were bidding on building an aircraft system, and were required to provide a “maintenance cost” guarantee on a per operator basis. Our Program Manager did a basic expected value calculation (how often each part breaks x cost to fix each part) and was ready to offer that up as our guarantee. I literally had to yell, “stop!” to get him to listen. The problem was that most operators were only going to have between 1 and 5 airplanes, so there were going to be hundreds of tiny fleets. Using the expected value (which would have been okay for a single large fleet of 1000 airplanes) would have been a financial disaster for our company to guarantee to all of those small fleets. I had to do a ton of Monte Carlo simulations to convince him.

Sorry - back to your regularly scheduled Trump bashing.
