Those two rookies look like they are contemplating not putting Detroit Metro on their choice of posts list...

Ok, not sure how accurate these numbers are, they're from MSN's Covid tracker site, but they show worldwide increase in cases of 30,928. The increase in just the US is 24,619.

Likewise, 6096 deaths worldwide, 2159 of those in the US.

At this rate, we could hit 70,000 dead by Sunday night. But yeah, stupendous job, Jared.

BTW, death count in the US is now at three Hovey Units. And no signs of slowing.

https://covid19.colorado.gov/hospital-data

756 currently hospitalized with confirmed COVID in Colorado, down from 873 this time last week.

Zero hospitals reporting an anticipated ICU bed shortage for a week straight.

I heard a rumor (yeah, yeah) that one of the hospitals in Castle Rock (WASP-y bedroom community south of Denver) is down to just 3 COVID inpatients.

Denver metro still needs to find a way to ramp up testing big time, but we may be getting through the worst of this (unless the common clay of the new West has their say.)

Rumblings that Mayor Hancock will not extend the Denver stay at home order after 5/8, but will institute a mandatory mask policy.

For yesterday, the World had 86,032 new cases and 5800 deaths. Probably a case of the site you're using being in the middle of the "world" day but already capturing all of the US's deaths and cases by that point.

I would also caution against using other countries (or "the world's") lower numbers as a comparison. There are a ton of countries without the government in place to report all their cases and deaths, even if they wanted to (and most dictatorships won't want to). For example, experts estimate that the true death toll in Ecuador is about 15X the official count. We're almost certainly undercounting here, too, because that's just the way it goes during a pandemic, but we're probably closer to a 2X number rather than 15X.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

Ecuador is a perfect example of why the official numbers are laughable compared to the real deaths.

Special 11:00 PM (EDT) update. (Sorry could not let this one get passed by.....)

Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Population 62527*

* US Census Bureau 2018 estimate

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

Per million people, we are not the worst with the death totals. So, I guess, that much is true.

So far, Covid has killed off .019% of our population, Italy has lost .046% and Spain .052% of their populations. Worldwide we are at .003% of the population*

However, Italy had a head start, and America is gonna have a second wave as some areas start to open up based on feeling and economy rather than science.

*usual caveat of based on reported numbers which are likely inaccurate

Yes talk to the angry white men with guns

Don't negotiate with terrorists

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

I think we need to have some caution in blanketing protesters as terrorists. Protest is an important right.

Open carry, bullet proof vest and screaming about your good over the good of the community = terrorist.

Blocking streets = shutting off infrastructure = terrorist

I'm sick of the toddler tantrums. They need a timeout. They can come back when they act like civilized adults.
