Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

I admittedly cant recall what/if anything that walrus has posted, but are you possibly thinking of Whalers (I think that was it)? He came in here a few times posting some nutso stuff.

Yeah I can't think of anything walrus posted anywhere that I thought was out of the ordinary.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

It absolutely is. Our numbers of new cases are sitting at roughly the same daily numbers because they're limited by the number of tests we're doing.
I agree that this is probably the first-order explanation. But even if the testing capacity were limited and the actual number of cases was still climbing, I would expect to see the % of positive test keep going up and up. Is that happening? I don't know of a good site that shows the history of the % positive number.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

This is a good way of looking at it.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Josh Marshall has also done some important graphing, wherein NYS, CT, NJ are removed from the case and death counts. This indicates that the U.S. as a whole is still in the ascent towards the peak: <a href="https://t.co/tnpTsPAI3Y">https://t.co/tnpTsPAI3Y</a></p>— Mangy Jay (@magi_jay) <a href="https://twitter.com/magi_jay/status/1257360642224381956?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 4, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Given the numbers MI is starting to see, consistently- maybe they should be added to the NY, NJ, and CT numbers. We had less than 100 deaths yesterday- which seems pretty significant.

Then again, we are just about to the time to see the first protest spike. And another week and a half from the second- which will probably be worse, given the distancing.

Had it not been for the protesters wanting to go outside, we might be able to go outside next week.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

In my county confirmed cases are up 55% in the last week.

No, cause we're still basically only testing people that are exhibiting symptoms.

That might actually make an impression on some of the scum. They're still in the "it's a City Boy Problem" mode. They probably think it's only affecting blacks. A southern co-worker of mine was very surprised to hear I knew white people from NYC because "that city is like 80% black."

(Note: NYC is 25% black.)

Im sure they were using the term black to cover all non-whites. When discriminating against non-whites they don't discriminate about which specific group it is.

Fair point.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

your comments in there are proof of that

We need to have a table of feuds. I can't keep them straight.

Is walrus-rufus one?

There's the MN-WI one I can't remember. And there's the one involving the guy born in NoDak who went to MN or maybe the other way. And there's Rover vs everybody.

Not going to admit, some groups of posters run together for me. For example, there "short names all lowercase" of burd/rufus/walrus I forget who is who. And I don't mean that as a bad thing, it means none of them have been jerks or said something so ridiculous that it stands out.

I'm gonna guess he's related to the guys who, upon learning I lived in the Detroit area, asked if I have to pack a gun every time I leave the house. :D

I actually had a co-worker defend gun rights to me once by saying, "you're from NY, right? Well, do you want to be outgunned?" When I asked "by whom?" he slunk away.

Republicans. What if the bottom third of an all-white Arkansas high school teleported here from 1951?

Actually I think Rover is funny. You just don't understand bourbon swilling BU grads.

Sundays don't count, tomorrows numbers will tell you if MI is improving.

Re: Covfefe-19: We Can Handle Slight Inconveniences. Part 8.

And John Oliver finally reports on testing to indicate that we ****ed up on testing and we're still ****ing up on testing. But, hey, REOPEN THE ****ING ECONOMY *****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The people who need to see that will ignore him because it's a comedy show.

The same people who sneer at getting ones' news from an "entertainment show", are the folks unironically watching Fox and OANN prime time whilst streaming The Blaze.
