The best is when those business owners are crying because they don't get Stimulus money. Opening in defiance of the order means they are "not in good standing" and risk getting zero. They know this and are still dumb enough to do it.

When they release the list I will make sure never to patronize any of those places again. Since they are so sad and pathetic they think Tim Walz is a "bully" (their word not mine) they would cower in fear of me anyways since I am much more intimidating than Walz is.

Revoke their licenses. The End.

Go figure, the Fascist is feeling a little Fascist this morning ^^^

Good for these businesses, they will be supported. This is a charade and complete non-sense.

Covid overwhelming our hospitals?

Not quite...

MN typically has about 530,000 hospital admissions in any given year.

Over this entire year, covid has accounted for just over 3% of typical annual volume.

Where did our hospital capacity go?

MN received $4B in funding to prepare for covid & build capacity.

Yet, according to MN Dept of Health, capacity is actually down 26%. See below

Wherever the beds went… using this low number makes the situation look more alarming…

Eo5hafyXIAIlyl4

We’ve tested half of the entire state of Minnesota.

We’ve tracked over 300,000 infected people.

Throw out the covid models… we have the real data.

Survival rate outside long term care = 99.90%
Under age 60 = 99.98%
Survival rate overall = 99.71%

So we have a group of leaders who insist this is fake, or not a big deal, and nothing can be done. Those same leaders are the ones making it hard for the small companies to get any relief. Large corporation, on the other hand.... There was a guy in Northern Michigan who was very much blaming the lack of relief money from congress for him demanding to be open. He clearly stated that he would be happy to close for 8 weeks if they paid him and his employees to stay home for that time. And when you take into account the number of people that should be closed- it's really easy to pay them. If we could give welfare to the richest people in this country, helping the small guy should be a piece of cake. Instead, dumpy and co claim that this is fake, things should be open, and we should be killing 3000 Americans every day. Nice that they helped the rich. And pretend, again, that trickle down economics helps the guy at Joe's Diner.

Minnesota has over 150 businesses who claim they’ll defy any extension to our shutdown order.

such heroes. I hope their water and electrify gets cut

I wonder if one of the veterans organizations that has a bar/restaurant that I use to hold meetings in is one of them. I have been there 4 times during the pandemic when widespread shutdown orders were not in place and there was not a mask in sight, social distancing was completely unknown, and the general talk was Biden is a socialist. They have (had?) a posting on the doors saying masks were required for entrance, but it went completely unenforced. These people think the virus is at least vastly overblown and some think it is entirely a myth. The belief is the numbers of dead are overstated by a factor of 10 and this is nothing worse than the seasonal flu.

I think the shutdown orders are sort of like people who avoided the draft in the 1970s. Most did not run off to Canada, they just quietly refused to show up and hoped no one came looking for them. Businesses in a lot of places will just go about their routines. The ones in 80% of the geography in almost any state knows the orders will not be enforced rigorously, if at all. How many sheriffs are on record as stating they won't enforce mandates at all? Plenty.

I think the best outcome is we the people need to decline to patronize places that don't adhere to the rules. We the people need to make sure we never spend a penny in any place that either defies a shutdown order or absent that refuses to enforce their own rules of masks and other measures designed to make us a little safer.

Having access to a list of companies who flaunt the clear safety rules may get me to join the book of faces. If they are willing to not contain the spread of a very deadly virus, what other things are they cutting corners for? FAR,FAR, FAR fewer people die from food poisoning- so those restaurants must be horrible places. And not many die from getting infected at gyms, so those must be pig sties.

Freedom of speech has the consequence of how people react to your speech. Just like you are allowed to talk and protest, I'm allowed to find another place to spend my money. And tell other people to do the same.

I wish we cared about our people like many other nations do. Now, I care more about people not dying than I give a flying fuck about some guys bar staying open.
you know what would make sense? People like small business owners voting for people who think people deserve a standard of living, not just indemnifying huge corporations who donate money.

we are so effing broken here it’s hard to see how to fix it

What do you mean by "interchangeable"?

Also, I'd like to hear your opinion of a workable vaccine vs. people who don't believe it. We know there are 3 sectors of people out there (maybe more)- 1) people who will get a vaccine, 2) people who *can't* get a vaccine (which is still being defined) and 3) people who won't get a vaccine.

My thinking is that 3 is a lost cause, but 2 needs protected. And I do expect that most in 1 will continue to use masks and be careful to not spread to 1's who have not yet gotten the vaccine.

So it seems to me that the virus will rage on in group 3 for quite a while. But as long as 1 and 2 are careful, they should take care of themselves.

Does that seems like a reasonable conclusion? Seems like it will take many months to take care of 1, at least.

The one interesting side effect- I bet some companies will require a vaccine to participate- cruises, concerts, resorts, sporting events, etc. I do wonder how how they will deal with group 3.

I took a vacation, put myself in time out. It never seems to help. I think someone answered the interchangeable question. Still haven't figured out multiquote so bullet points on some other stuff.

-we are in a world of hurt until we can get a large group vaccinated. I can't see this happening before Fall of next yr unless I am missing something. We live in a health conscious state. It might be better here. I wonder about some of the flyover states. I would say they are going to save big $$ on pensions from the die off but the rate of sequelae and bills being racked up are going to be awful.

-whoever was talking about Biden not being able to dig us out until later in the yr- I agree. Bailing with a teaspoon in some of the places. The only thing he can do is give coherence to the response. The Dump and his ilk have caused such destruction there is no way to mitigate. It will be helpful to be able to trust that hBiden will get out of the way and let real experts direct what needs to be done.
-UK is vaccinating healthcare workers at the same time as the elderly. The Beeb was reporting about the allergic reactions in a few of them- they weren't giving a lot of info about it.
-Listening to one of the big Boston hospitals (8K employees) they are staggering the vaccination on units because of the reports of sig side effects in a percentage of those receiving- not medically serious but unpleasant and people feel pretty lousy. Their plan is to give right before the people have a day off so they won't need to work if they feel lousy. They are also not going to do whole units at once
-they are not shipping dose 2 with dose 1 because storing the thing is tricky and they wouldn't have the capacity to store that much for the time needed and still have room to get more to move forward. From what I heard they are withholding those doses at the facility and not shipping them out until it is time. That is why there is a limited # available and accounts for the reduced capacity to supply.
-not sure if anything further has been said about the whole transmission thing after vaccination. (? anyone?)
-The Dump managed to further muddy the waters but making sure to look like he was forcing the FDA to hurry the vaccine along. That man is an evil menace. He truly has so much evil intent- pretending to take credit to push it while also feeding the flames of the idjits who will not get vaccinated.
-I think there should be some sort of carrot and stick. If you aren't willing to institute measures, be careful, then to the back of the line for assistance, grants, etc. Pipe dream as the places where people are stupidest their leaders are equally stupid.
-we are way shut here and still getting worse. Our local State Rep FINALLY decided to stop pandering to the twiats who think this is a hoax and went off on FB but not in a shareable post because then that could actually spread the message and she wants to keep all the Dumpers in town happy.
-Meanwhile my town- full of neanderthals including the local policemen who tell citizens it is a hoax and going away after the election, one of the nurses I worked with before posting on FB that masking is a conspiracy hoax (what the actual F??) What would masking be a conspiracy for? She is posting a lot. Her threads are full of self righteous people who are right with her. I am considering reporting her to the BON- this is unethical and pretty sure she could (should) lose her license.
- my town of less than 35K has more cases than VT. The local area cases are growing 'exponentially' at a rate of ~300+% a week. Staying true to the Dumpers are where the hotspots are.
-is Rudi dead yet or is he getting the fluff and buff special treatment? I wonder who is paying for that?
-NPR had something about one of the NCAA BB coaches coming out to ask what they were trying to prove playing thru the pandemic, using the athletes like throw aways. Hmm. In less than 30 minutes mr les team will be playing the Typhoid Mary of Hockey East.
-I can't post in the Hockey Least thread because they are just dam stupid (except a few valliant people with brains). There were comments about how athletes are not getting this and should play- they are getting it plenty but the #s are husshed up I wonder if anyone is keeping a running tally of just how many positives and canceled games there are. It is plain stupid.
Well, that is a lot of words in one post. Oops.

Can someone post this list when it comes out? I’m also interested in never visiting them again.

Watching ProViCid!1! College- maskless both on and off the ice. Already shut down 3 times and their culture for prevention is embarrassingly bad. Is it bad that I emailed the entire City Council and City Manager of Lowell saying the ADs and Hockey Least Commish are spineless so maybe they should consider what message this gives? We have a freaking FIELD HOSPITAL and they have the Typhoid Mary of HE (over half their players have come up positive so far) coming up from RI, the worst hotspot of New England, playing without any attempt to prevent potential spread. Maybe they need to think of why this is allowed to happen in a City where we are slammed. Maybe they need to require visiting teams do what is right.

AnNd- they are also sucking. They have been blown out a few times- wonder if their recovery from C-19 is maybe what the problem is.

According to the moron in charge of the movement they will be releasing the list. Their plan is to start outstate and then get the Twin Cities to open up.

I have a lot of friends out of work in hospitality...they all think this is stupid.

Can't spell "COVID ER" without "{ROVICED!"

(Sorry, I've forgotten the exact string.)
