Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

People are naturally taking it poorly. I'm hoping for the time when they used to limit the amount of people in the grocery stores. And I'm dealing with family that wants to get together for Thanks giving. Seven people total, but I still don't want it to happen.

F that. Our family has nuked holidays from orbit. No way.

Srsly. I don't understand "I need my grandkids to see Nana so they can kill her."

Well.

Put that way...

In all seriousness, I wonder how many people have tried to use the virus to commit murder. 300 million people in the country, right? I'll say 10k. And maybe 500 pulled it off.

Edit: There are 15,000 murders in the US per year (editor's note: holy sh-t!). I may need to revise my numbers.

Yeah. Ours too. It's sad, but necessary and logical. We only have social distancing as a tool right now. Masks help facilitate that to a degree but not enough to be able to go to a hockey game or some other large social event.

To the people of Minnesota... 99.9%... Should we be living in fear?

Share the facts...
> Long term care – 1% of population, 70% of deaths
> Rest of MN – 99% of pop, est 99.9% survival
> Under 60yo – est 99.97% survival Source:

Very curious, what data do you look at to keep your fear stoked?

My family as well. My dad will come over for Thanksgiving and maybe one church friend who doesn't usually have a place to go. That'll make 4 people.

For Christmas one of my brothers plans to come up (causing an issue, since he's decided COVID is a hoax), but I don't know what he's going to do because neither my dad nor I will let him stay with us if he isn't tested before coming up and commits to following the rules here.

I get not wanting to get together but for some of us it sucks even more. I had only lived in WI for a very short time before covid hit. My job itself makes it hard to socialize because I work any of the 7 days of the week and am on the road too much. After a year here I barely know anyone and I live by myself. The notion of not spending Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays back home around family and close friends is VERY depressing. Very. I mean I'll do it because a few months of isolation is better than dying or killing people by dragging Wisconsin's covid anywhere with me. But it still sucks donkey phallus.

Not that article comment sections are an indication of anything other than what absolute morons think, but the two articles I read had... yikes.

About 2 months ago I gave up. We're stuck with this until we have a vaccine fully distributed, so hopefully next summer some time. We had a chance to beat this. And we decided, collectively, not to. America was once at the forefront of science, technology and business. And now?

Discouraging that #Germany, much praised for its test, track, and trace system, has seen its #COVID19 case rate increase 1300% over the past two months.

Germany had a chance to "beat" the virus and came up short apparently.

Yeah I dont even think the GF made it through the sentence before I said "NOPE" and she breathed a sigh of relief. Of course I never want to see my family so not doing the holidays is aok by me any year ;-)

If the weather is still fall like we might just go out of town and isolate for a few days before the winter hits and ruins everything.

Had a good talk with my mom about my cousin’s funeral and holidays.

She’s not interested in holidays at all. Pretty sure my dad isn’t either. I don’t need 2020 to kill half my family. I have been begging my parents to take grocery delivery. I’d even pay for it.

My doctor brother on the other hand keeps acting like this isn’t even happening. He’s a lefty and has been saying the right things on social media, but his actions have been less than optimal. He had his wife’s entire family over for Halloween without masks. Just... untucking real.

Either way, holidays aren’t happening and I’ll torpedo anyone who tries to shame my parents into it.

That is because outside of Long Term Care Facilities nothing that out of the ordinary is happening, except for testing completely healthy people with a PCR test. Certainly nothing to the level of the hysteria you are pumping.

mr les works in DI hockey. He is about as hi risk as you can get and lilnsl les is working in a market. We can't get near anyone. Just saw something in the last couple of days that the small <10 gatherings were the cause of most of the spread here. Saw a snippet of the Baker presser today and he was begging people to not go to Thanksgiving, even with small gatherings because that is what is killing people. It sucks that we can't see people but dying or killing someone from it would suck more.

To be honest I struggle to understand how people are considering having anyone from outside those who live with them. Testing is NOT accurate. Unless people are quarantining for 14 days, with no outside exposure at all, there is no way to be safe. I get it sucks but how hard is it to grasp this concept? I keep saying the words 'just once' and 'only once' are killing words*. Maybe it is my training or that I grew up in a military household where rules were rules, not an invitation to negotiate? What ever it is, I just shake my head at all the mental gymnastics that occur to make it OK to go see anyone or have anyone visit inside a house. The fvcking thing is airborne. It will be cold. Are people going to sanitize their house, air it out after having guests? Is it really worth killing someone or dying for something that should not resemble normal?

*Lilnsl works in the market where people are continually thinking they are special and he has to make them walk down the aisles the right way. Today he told some special person that the words just and only have killed over 210K of people so the person was not an exception- go the right way.

This forum is great because it reminds me not everyone has a death wish or is a complete moron. If I didn’t have posts like these, I might have gone full Network

Near as I can tell, people around here quit following the one-way aisle signage back in June.

Thank you for saying that.

I feel like a very small island sometimes. I have been saying this since the beginning. I have lost a friend who insisted they should be able to do just this one thing. I have others who are still not recovered. 20/20 hindsight is a b1tch.

I try not to be a hypocrite so I do as I preach. I have not been anywhere that was not absolutely necessary. That means I have been inside somewhere else less than a handful of times. Do I like it? no. But I don't find it difficult as much as I am sad. I have seen the result of the 'I only', 'just this once', 'its not fair! you can't expect me to...' many times in my career. That one drink, that one last hit, the putting off of starting a med and then the irrevocable damage. This is something I have to tolerate until a solution put in place. It won't last forever so it isn't like I am like some of my patients who will never achieve normal again.

The thing I struggle with is the number of people who lack understanding that this is not a negotiation. I have 'friends' (no longer) who demean my choices, belittle me for not living, and all the other sh1t that comes with denial. That is the part that eats me. I thought I knew there was an underbelly to humanity. This has shown me I had no idea of its magnitude. And it has shown me how toxic leadership is a powerful avenue to evil outcomes.

Well, where he works was the first market in our State to have a case and one of the people assoc with that case died (probably more). Of course he works with a couple of real wackos who believe in the Deep State, chem trails and all the other nonsense but they are in the back cutting meat. (not so sure how safe they are with knives)

The number one cause of death BY FAR in the New World after Jamestown and Plymouth was virus and disease. Just think of how different America would be if ................. The Natives had just quarantined in place AND wore masks. If only Gov Charlie Parker had been around in 1620 to force Squanto to stay at home after 10 PM to "Stop the Spread".

I admit I have done stuff I didnt need to do but took every precaution possible including researching where I was going to make sure they are doing the right things.
