Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

Other than work, which I have to do, and have to be exposed to all these yahoos "from away" I haven't done a damn thing, other than get my takeout breakfast while working. No bars, no restaurants, no movies, no crowding together with other people on holiday weekends. So basically, pretty much life as usual.

I do miss going to my favorite bar, but its not something I "need" to do. And its not infringing on my Freedums if I don't go. Plus, I keep an extra $40-50 in my pocket by not going.

The only thing I did that could be considered risky was I did Record Store Day in September. Drove to South Portland ME, put my name on a list, grabbed breakfast at Mickey D's, went back to the store, got out of my car, stood there for five minutes til my name was called, spent five minutes in the store grabbing what I wanted, and out. Picked up a pizza for dinner, and drove home

Otherwise, watching a lot of bike racing on tv, trying to get out on my bike more often, and that's it. Feeling so deprived of the things I cannot do.(that was sarcasm).

Mookie is an essential employee and has been in the office every day since July. Except when he returned here from the US and had to stay in the house for 2 week mandatory quarantine

mookie goes golf too, where single rider carts are required for all and groups are limited to two

I just got an alert from my city letting me know that a person who went to my voting place to vote today notified a poll worker that they had tested positive. Two things....1) WHY would you go out to vote when you have tested positive. WHY??? And 2) I am so thankful for early voting, which I did on 10/17.

I don't think an alert like that is really all that necessary provided the polling places are following good guidelines as far as covid goes. If people are masked, physically distancing and areas are sanitized regularly, it is no more dangerous to vote than it is to go to the grocery store. Once you have decided to vote today instead of by mail or early (when theoretically there would be fewer people standing around although I know that wasn't necessarily true in 2020) maybe you just accept the added risk, which even I think is small. It almost makes me think they would send an alert like that and people would decide NOT to bother voting. If it happened in a red state that is what I'd DEFINITELY believe.

They probably didn't test positive and just said they did to scare/own the libs.

It's likely safe to assume that anything like this is lame GOP voter malfeasance to try and suppress the vote.

I read in an article on Georgia guv Kemp, who has tested positive and quarantining. Too late for him to get an absentee ballot and mail it in, so it said, people who have tested positive can still vote at the polls. But they have to notify a poll worker, where I presume they are led off to an isolated place to vote, sanitize before and after voting, and be masked at all times.

Perhaps this is why.

To shut the polling place down and put the poll workers into quaratine.

Sounds deliberate.

According to the alert from the city, they shut down the polling place for 30 minutes to really clean and disinfect (which they had been doing regularly all day) and then re-opened. I suppose it would be enough to put a scare into people that might prevent people from going the rest of the day across the city, though.

Certainly. And you don't even go to jail like you would if you called in a bomb threat.

They're not called Nazis for nothing.

One more cancelation, no B1G for them.

At this point I dont see how there wont be one. Even if they get back some of the first wave early in the week (no idea when the clock started) they are still going to be very shorthanded going into I believe the Michigan game. If they add any new cases they will be done for.

But hey...at least we all get that sweet Big Ten Network cash.

I have completely tuned it out dont watch any games, dont wear any of my paraphernalia and honestly dont even really care. The Big Ten and their cash grab after pretending to care for a month has completely soured me and so this year doesnt even count in my mind. Hell none of the sports playing makeshift schedules count in my head. I honestly have zero interest in watching which is sad.

I can honestly say COVID is why I run 6 days a week and am in better shape now than 10 years ago. I exercise a ton.

Sad for the sports teams that you used to donate money to, maybe. But, as I see it, COVID is doing a great job making people really look at what they are doing, and perhaps pointing out alternative things to spend your time, money, and effort on. In the long run, making your life richer in the process.

Your zero interest in sports is interest into something else. That's not a bad thing.

Had it not been for COVID, we would not have gone camping to celebrate our 25th anniversary, we would not be seeing camping as a viable thing to really enjoy when we retire. And we would not have a vintage travel trailer in our back yard to be resto-modded.

This whole pandemic sucks really, really bad. The deaths and the people suffering is horrific. But that should not prevent us from learning more about ourselves.
Yup. I am finding that some of the things that I would never have missed before I am doing fine without.

mr les works in sports and I really, really struggle with the morality of perpetuating something that is not the slightest bit necessary and putting a ton of people at risk.

Well, it's the day after the election. I guess COVID has blinked out of existence.

What a relief, it looked really bad for a while.
