Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

CA made the same mistake and it probably cost Newsom his political future.

Being a p-ssy on this and trying to accommodate the tards was wreckless and foolish. You can't listen to the meatheads anymore, at all. And that goes for their corporate puppetmasters too. Ghost them or they will, literally, ghost you.

Maine’s governor deserves tons and tons of credit for holding the line here. We have the advantage of being a fairly rural state but a lot of good decisions have really paid off. I doubt our economy would be any better off if we had opened up more or sooner either.

NCAA came out and said Student athletes should have no out of pocket expenses for C-19. Schools are responsible for 100% of bills not covered by insurance for any athlete living at school/practicing. This would include the aftermath. No longer allowed to have them sign a waiver re C-19. That should make things very interesting.

The countries noted in that tweet combined have well over 500 million people. 330 million in the U.S. and we have almost 10 times as many dead over the same period.

I get angrier and angrier seeing numbers like this. Americans are killing other Americans in the name of their "freedoms." You can't sugar coat it or put it any other way.

We know if everyone wore a mask and we shut down bars and nightclubs tens of thousands of people who would otherwise die will survive. At what point do we need to resort to some pretty ugly tactics to put a stop to this massacre? I ask that question in all seriousness. People are not just dying. They are BEING KILLED.
If an invading horde of people came into America and shot or bombed thousands of people to death we'd be waging a real, live war against them. Why are we letting them get away with this?

The only choice I am left with to protect myself is to stay locked inside and only venture outside if I absolutely have to, and when I do go out all I can do is wear my mask, stay far away from other humans, and hope or pray. The people who are losing their freedoms are those of us who take this seriously and care about our neighbors.

All about what's good for Trump.

Adam Schiff tried to warn you.

And, who was that woman who asked"Imagine if you were the governor of a state that had suffered a major disaster, and Trump says, sure, I'll help, but you have to do me a favor first"

Well, now we're there.

Compare the picture in this tweet with the one from Georgia (I think) that got kids suspended. In this new one I see LOTS of kids wearing masks. And there was still an outbreak. The other one didn't appear to show any kids with masks. How bad will their outbreak be by the end of this week? And just in case anyone thinks differently, I am not saying masks or mask mandates are not called for. I think if you go into public without a mask (and barring a serious medical condition which makes masks contraindicated -- which is about .001 of the population) you should be punched right in your maskless mouth. I am pointing out that even with precautions it is still very risky to cram people together. But I guarantee that if that MS school was the spreading ground for coronavirus, it would have been far worse had all those kids not been masked up.

And we can not do anything to save ourselves from us.

Sure we can. We could treat our domestic enemies with the same harshness as we treat our foreign ones.

We can EASILY afford to end this virus now with a 6 week shutdown.

(and it's clear that dumpy planned this impasse in Congress to make him look good, such BS. More about the economy and less about saving lives)

This. Absolutely. As the richest country in the world, had we had tax and healthcare policies that were even just in between where ours are and where, say Germany's are, we would have endured some pain and hardship in April and May, made good progress in June and July, and would right now be preparing for schools to open in most of the country in ways pretty closely resembling what it looked like last year, and even if cramming 100,000 fans into football stadiums was not in the cards, we would at least be preparing for college football to probably start on time and play actual seasons.

As for the impasse, that is exactly what the republicans wanted. How many Americans know that most of what trump just ordered in his various executive orders actually is entirely in the hands of the congress, based on what THE CONSTITUTION says as far as who has what powers and authority in this country? I've already heard people saying it was about time trump just took the reins and ordered states and congress to do what his EOs said. So he looks decisive and forceful to his 41% and even among people who don't support him, he looks like he is trying to lead. Just because you know this president is a lousy leader doesn't mean you understand how our government was designed to function.

I have posted this sentiment countless times in the last few years, whether it was about racism, bad cops, or now a pandemic, but I have really grown tired of how we let the 35-40% of this country who are either bigots or idiots or both dictate to the rest of us how things are going to be. That has to stop and anymore I don't really care how we stop it.

The way we cure it is more democracy. The Electoral College and the Senate are anti-democratic institutions. They were created to shield the super rich and a minority of slave owners from democracy. They are inherently right wing and elitist. End. Them.

The Constitution allegedly contains a poison pill making it impossible to amend the Senate away from its Rotten Borough system. So, either amend to move all important legislative functions from the Senate to the House, making the Senate ceremonial like the House of Lords, or -- better -- reconfigure the states to make them roughly equal in population. The idea what a Wyomingian has 60x the voting power of a Californian is offensive to anyone who believes in equality.

WY stays a state? Fine -- have 300 states, each with roughly WY's population. Make every district a state.

I believe they have already reported 9 cases in Georgia...

I like the idea of making every district a state. However, it would require each state to join in (along with Congressional action). Also, given gerrymandering, imagine the borders. The flag would be a bit crowded too.

In any event, we better register onethousandthreehundredeight.com and 655towin.com here quick.

More attempts have been made to reform or abolish the electoral college than any other topic in the history of this republic. Aside from the minor change the 12th Amendment made, it ain't gonna happen. Especially now when a good portion of America is dumber than they were a couple of generations ago and won't take the time to educate themselves on an issue, beyond what FAUX News or right wing nutjob radio tells them to think and believe. And 35-40% of Americans do not believe in the kind of equality our Constitution (and its Amendments) and Declaration of Independence speak of anyway.

You might be right Kep about how the bigots and the close-minded non-thinkers will gradually fade away and be replaced by people with enough awareness to realize there are better ways. But we don't have time on an evolutionary schedule to wait for it. This country probably does not survive in its present form waiting for enough people to die off naturally and be replaced with people who know how to think, and consider all options, and to wait for the science and the evidence to be studied and understood. We need to give evolution a push. Or a good kick in the behind.
