Isn't a 16 hour nap, a 104deg temp with your spouse wiping you down and keeping you warm at the same time, utter exhaustion.... just a normal cold?
This actually sounds like most of my vacations to the caribbean.
THe whole point is the CDC was focusing on the economy and social 'needs'. The public is stupid. They are spoiled. The CDC is enabling stupid. No one wants to acknowledge it is still spreading or that it has any impact. We are all supposed to pretend it is gone and pretend all the effects from the stupid aren't affecting us. :roll eyes:
Boy, ain’t that a fact. In the last two days, two people got sick on another board. One of them was vaccinated, and barely got sick, the other wasn’t but got up to a miserable 104- both threads had a lot of antivaxxors who all claim to be right even though there still is a good chance of death for the unvaccinated.
edit- there's still a huge crowd that think just because you get infected, the vaccine doesn't work. And that it's worth taking a chance of not being vaccinated- even though you end up getting it more than once- because the 2nd and 3rd time are minor, it's obviously harmless. As if 1M dead Americans are meaningless.
crazy.
.... at what point would you think we should "go back to normal"
At least 12 months ago. Right after Gavin had his maskless French Laundry party and the Obama's their big Vineyard soiree - the one with all the Go Green people flying from all over the world in PRIVATE jets to a WATERFRONT mansion to dance, drink and whatever else ...... sans masks, or shame. (if the compound needs a catchy name, how about Hypocrisy)![]()

Obviously if you are sick, stay home (just as you should with any illness) but quarantining based on exposure etc has outlived its usefulness.
I agree with this. (unless you have pre-existing conditions of course)
Oh - you buy into the far-right propaganda. I was hoping to have a real discussion
As a card-carrying member of the "vaxed / boosted / will get further suggested shots" but otherwise done club, I'll play:
Given that this is never going away, and we are not faced with a lack of hospital recourses for those who do get very sick (as well as having treatment options we did not have at the start of the pandemic).... at what point would you think we should "go back to normal" stop quarantining / staying out of work or school etc for 5 days based on a potential exposure? What metrics would you use?
It is pretty clear that as this has evolved into less serious variants and more and more of the population has some immunity (either through exposure or vaccination) that it has become not much more than a cold or flu for the overwhelming majority of us. In my opinion it is at the point where it should be treated as such.
I feel badly for the friend who had the 104 fever, but on the flip side that was partially his choice. Should my non sick kids really have to miss a week of school because others are too stupid or stubborn to get the free, safe, readily available vaccine.

I think at this point we should just go with it, and let the dumb die.
The only reason not to do this is to protect the people who are medically unable to get vaccinated.
I absolutely agree the people who aren't vaccinating because of their stupidity should be reunited with the angry sky man of their choice as expeditiously as possible. I love their eternal souls that much to spare them the misery of this flawed world.
There is that. And I'm not really sure how to deal with that- the dumb are just so willing to die.
If the New York Post came to life as a junior college jock.
Right but you also just can't handwave the fact that 75% plus are vaccinated or have caught it already. Not saying you're necessarily doing that, but for the vast vast majority of the population, it IS a less severe disease.Just a point of clarification.
It isn't at all clear that Covid has "evolved into a less serious variant". Earned immunity makes it less severe; it is not intrinsically less severe (at least, it has not been proven to be so).
This is an important distinction.
