The number of cases are irrelevant. The hospitalizations are what matter. Fuckwads who refuse the vaccine are destroying our health care system.

I’m very pro vaccine but at this point the unvaccinated are being used as scape goats not to do anything else. In this area around a third of the people hospitalized are vaccinated and it’s pretty obvious it only does so much.

lmao, just keep burying your head in the sand.

You were doing good until that last sentence. If “around a third of the people hospitalized are vaccinated” actually means around two thirds of those hospitalized are not vaxed. When an overwhelming majority of Mainers are vaxed, but an overwhelming minority of unvaxed in turn becomes a majority of hospitalized, those numbers become a slam dunk for justifying vaccination when presented correctly.
You give the spreadnecks ammo by twisting the facts…..

It's SIMPLE MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just don't admit them if they are unvaccinated without a medical excuse.

It isn't possible, ethics aside even. Hospitals are not allowed to deny emergency care for any reason, and very often patiens come in unresponsive and/or without complete information. Sometimes this doesn't get sorted out until after the patient is moved from ED to med/surg floor (although right now the delay time can be days, so...). Also, even if they do sort of stabilize the patient's acute issues, that stabilization often requires BiPAP or straight ventilation or other treatment that requires an inpatient stay, and you could make a really, really strong legal and ethical argument that the ventilator is very much a part of that required emergency life saving treatment.

Practically speaking, there just isn't a way to do this. Hitting people in the wallet is the only way.

I would like to see a source for that stat. (and if you say you heard it from a doctor friend fuck off) And it is pretty obvious you have no clue what you are talking about.

And scapegoats my ass. The unvaxxed are why we are here. Period full fucking stop. We still havent even hit the 70% figure that we needed to get to when the vaccine started. If the morons had just taken the shot the hospital system would not have been overrun during Delta and now risk complete collapse with Omicron. This is the shit we were all warned about 2 fucking years ago! Literally, word for word, from doctors. Now here we are.

There is no other excuse and it is hardly scapegoating. If they got their shots they wouldn't be going to the hospital in numbers anywhere close to what they have been since Delta. When my father needed to go to the hospital the system we use was filled and it was 98% unvaxxed and that stat was actually released to the public. (a few days later we needed federal help because of it) If they don't want a shot fine...then stay the fuck hoe and use a faith healer or take some Vitamin C and choke to death because fuck you you selfish fucks.

Why should those of us who did what was right suffer because 38% of the population don't understand what a fact is?

I know, and honestly don’t like to do it. I just don’t think the risk is anywhere close to low enough for vaccinated folks to be trying what we are trying and am pretty confident it will end in tears.

lmao, just keep burying your head in the sand.

According to the WADOH as of 12/15/2021:

Summary
Unvaccinated 12-34 year-olds in Washington are
23 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 12-34
year-olds.
Unvaccinated 35-64 year-olds are
17 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 35-64
year-olds.
Unvaccinated 65+ year-olds are
11 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 compared with fully vaccinated 65+ year-
olds.

When results get more sketchy for the vaccinated are breakthrough cases - but those would be mitigate if more people were vaccinated in the first place.

You need to clean up your glass bellybutton.

The unvaccinated are a problem because of the people who are telling them to not get vaccinated. The leaders (who are probably vaccinated) who are holding all of this science up for political gain.

All of this would mostly be fixed if everyone would get vaccinated- the hospital system would be capable of dealing with the vaccinated in hospitals, especially because the burden on the ICU's and ventilators would be incredibly reduced. Your 70/30 ratio goes to 85/15 and 90/10 when getting sicker. Let alone deaths.

And the "leaders" of the morons are the same ones fighting every single good idea to reduce the spread- particularly mask mandates. They are attacking local school boards to prevent mask mandates in school. They are the ones making laws in their states banning mask mandates (and vaccine mandates, too).

Add to that the spread among vaccinated- numbers have been posted before, but while you can get and spread the virus when vaccinated, the amount of spreading is reduced greatly and the amount of exposure required to get sick is increased.

In the end, THE best solution that is also the most effective is getting vaccinated.

Add to that, I'd bet that a vast majority of those who are wearing masks are also vaccinated. So asking for more of that from vaccinated is just trying to squeeze water out of rock.

The real problem is the political structure that you help put into place that thinks it's a good idea to murder a bunch of their own supporters for political gain. The same ones who fight dealing with this in the right way at every single corner.

The only think that we can do further is shut things down- which is the process of happening. But do you honestly think that the right will stand for that if it comes from the government??? When there was an armed rush on the Michigan Capitol just because of the restrictions????

I fail to see how any of your ideas make any progress to those that are keeping this going. Seems that the most likely outcome will be a coup attempt in multiple cities, counties, and states.

Yesterday in Mass there were 1,515 people hospitalized and 486 were vaccinated. It’s been pretty consistent across Maine and Mass.

Do the math, and extrapolate the vaccinated hospitalization rate to the unvaccinated. And do that for ICU and ventilators, too.

You'll seen enough of a drop that the hospitals can deal with it.

That's the magic.

Even if the number if true, if 2/3rds of the people hospitalized are unvaccinated, and 1/3rd of the population is unvaccinated, that means they are imposing 4x the burden on our system because of their selfish, politically moronic choice.

But we can treat them like drunk drivers. Sure, admit them to the hospital. But they lose their insurance with no hope of recovering it. Take everything.

And we should pull a TX and allow other patients, and other taxpayers, to sue them for the costs their irresponsibility is imposing on the productive portion of the population. c.f. gun owners.

I kind of like that last part. They're actually causing serious harm.
