That’s an interesting point. If a terrorist were spreading a bioweapon, how would we feel about it?
I don’t cross into the territory of wishing someone dead. But when you look at like what it is, terrorism and biological attacks... how should we treat it?
See this is pretty much how I AM looking at this. In February or March, or even late into the spring I could see people wanting to take a wait and see approach, wondering if it was really going to be as bad as many feared. But by now everything that is happening was what was
predicted to happen in the fall if we didn't get a handle on this. And people ignored it.
Kep was partially right when he said we're not sociopaths here and we are just blowing off steam. But where I'm concerned only partially. Unlike most of the rest of you apparently (maybe?), I do see this as a war and I do see two sides, one right, and one horribly, murderously wrong.
This is just like my vote. If you take my vote away, what choice do I have left? Vote out the bums who took my right to vote away? Wait, I can't do that, they took away my right to vote. and if they're willing to make my vote meaningless or take it away, they sure as hell won't care if I assemble peaceably seeking a redress of my grievances. Again, that's where the vote thing comes in. When you take that away you leave me with no other effective choice. None.
COVID is getting to the point of no return. The administration has allowed it to be worse than it should have been because why? trump was afraid he'd lose an election? And his MAGAts are willfully accepting his word as the word of a god. There is no arguing with that, and nothing anyone was ever going to say was or is going to make them see the light. Is this any different from Germans who followed Hitler, or Japanese who truly believed their emperor was a god? When that is what you are up against, what choices do we have? Most of us posting here are doing what WE can. We are avoiding crowds, cancelling every family event that doesn't just include the people under our one roof, limiting trips outside the home, and have been wearing masks whenever we venture out of our own yards since April. We voted for people who would put the health and safety of people FIRST and believe in science, experts and facts. But that's all WE have, and if the murderously wrong portion of the country is going to continue behaving selfishly, people will continue to die needlessly. And by the tens of thousands. At what point do we say enough is enough?
Again, terrorists killed 3000 people on 9-11 and we've spent two decades expending American blood and treasure, and have exterminated lives in other countries by the hundreds of thousands because of it. I don't know that I see COVID-19 all that differently. So what ARE we to do?
