Covfefe-19 The 11th Part: Suck It Up And Die Grandpa I Need A Manicure!!

Another way to look at it: Replace the “no masks” signs and chants with “no condoms”.
The stupidity should be obvious now.

Exactly. The hysteria and fear was over the top. Virus from sex? They freaked. Virus from breathing air? No big deal.

Seemed like you were suggesting that they would have mandated condom use, and that they're being hypocritical for not mandating masks.

Also, weren't Reagan and the righty's accused of minimizing or ignoring HIV/Aids in the 80's, as opposed to implementing "hysterical" or over-the-top responses?

They freaked once it started infecting them. For many years...it was a "them" virus and the right didn't care at all. Hell IIRC Reagan didn't even say the word AIDS for 4 years after they first found it.

I was living in the Bay Area in the early 80s when the AIDS epidemic first began in this country. Perhaps no city on the planet was as fearful or as victimized by it as SF, not only because of its large gay population, but because it was considered a death sentence. I think the fear generated by AIDS was different from COVID 19 in a couple of ways.

Since it was considered a death sentence early on, fear was absolute. You got it, you died. But since it was soon labeled a gay disease, a large part of the population considered themselves isolated from its effect. Gays became the enemy, of course, and the far right was complicit in that, as it was portrayed as a biblical punishment. Not to say people across the entire political spectrum weren't contributing to that.

A big part of the fear generated by COVID is economic. Some are capitalizing, but nearly everyone else is affected in a negative way. AIDS had a large economic impact worldwide too, but your average (straight) Joe in Peoria didn't feel it to the extent he feels COVID.

And, to wrap up the generalities and cliche's, play a full 60 minutes and play one shift at a time. Oh, and write your mother.

Pretty sure Lord Fauch played a pretty big role during that period. And he certainly wasn’t on team let’s take a step back and be reasonable. He was on #TeamHysteria all the way.

Would they still protest, take to the streets, disrupt meetings with signs and chants of “no condoms” and claim their rights?
So hypocritical.

If they've been accused of minimizing BOTH then they're not being hypocritical they're being consistently obtuse.

Also explain how recommending condoms and masks respectively are "over the top" suggestions?

Not really suggesting anything. Just enjoying the stupidity and irony.

Sure Reagan head was up his a.., but the Bible Belt crowd mentioned it frequently from the pulpit.

If you're going to respond to my posts, at least take the time to read them and try to understand what I am saying, and maybe look at the post that I quote or respond to, for context. If you're not going to do that, you might as well just put me on ignore.

If wayuphere had posted that the response of politicians on the right to both HIV and coronavirus has been similar, I probably wouldn't have responded or disagreed. I tend to agree that their response has basically been "it's not my problem, until it becomes my problem" to both health issues.

But that's not what he posted. He basically posted that there has been no freak out about coronavirus from the right, when it's respiratory disease, while there was an over-the-top freak out when it was a sex disease.

I simply responded by pointing out in fact the right didn't seem to respond at all to AIDS, and virtually ignored it, something for which they've been criticized for decades, correctly I believe. Wayuphere is now sort of backsliding on his comments by saying that they were freaked out about it in churches in the bible belt, or something. I'll just have to take his word for it. I've never spent any time in churches in the bible belt.

The "over the top" phrase came directly from his initial quote, which is why I used it in my response. I don't think recommending that people use condoms or masks is over the top at all.

Now, calling the cops on people who don't follow that recommendation? I think that's been discussed.

For those that have inhaled so much sand after shoving their skull into a beach that they have denied their brain the necessary oxygen to function as a rational human being.

The coverup has begun. Trump and his team have scrubbed the CDC website of previously available data on hospital and ICU capacity.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/16/us-...stration-shifted-control-from-cdc-to-hhs.html

Coronavirus data has already disappeared after Trump administration shifted control from CDC
  • Since the pandemic began, the CDC has regularly published data on availability of hospital beds and intensive care units across the country.
  • But Ryan Panchadsaram, who helps run a data-tracking site called Covid Exit Strategy, said that when he tried to collect the data from the CDC on Tuesday, it had disappeared.
  • When reached for comment Thursday by CNBC, HHS spokesman Michael Caputo said in a statement that the CDC was directed to make the data available again.

I don't work for you so f*** off. My apologies however for not picking up what you were laying down.

Oh please....
Son of a Baptist minister here, I’ve heard it all. Condom or mask, tools to prevent transmission. Sarcasm of my original post
still stands. It was an “imagine if”.

So question for people that are terrified or have a heightened amount of a anxiety around Covid 19.

I ask genuinely because I have zero heightened fear of this virus.

when you are are in a public setting and see someone without a mask do you genuinely fear for you safety? Let’s assume the maskless people are minding their own business not doing anything crazy, just going about their day.

If you fear for your safety in that type of setting does being in a setting with all masked people bring your level of fear and risk down to a level that you deem is now reasonable and you now feel comfortable?

Bump.

Anyone able to offer insight. I am interested in getting thoughts from someone on #TeamHysteria #TeamPanic

You aren't interested in getting thoughts. You want something you can attack.
Stop with the BS.
