That's 40k shy of all US deaths in the Korean War.

Right now, 90k would be the Revolutionary War (50k) PLUS the Iraq War '03 (36,710) PLUS the Gulf War '90 (1,143)

We are quickly closing in on total deaths of WWI- 116k.

Sadly, nearly everything about coronavirus is political. I also believe in addition to being ironic, it is highly likely this will pass the civil war by the end of the next flu season. It might be years before we know of the actual totals, as researchers are going to have a lot of work in getting at the actual figures. The reddest 10 or so states will be doing everything possible to hide the real causes of tens if not hundreds of thousands of deaths.

Had the right been willing to listen to reason, perhaps the rest of us could have been persuaded to do some of the things a little differently, a little more tailor made to the circumstances on the ground. But the right won't listen to the facts and the evidence, won't believe the experts and scientists, and are lightning quick to jump on memes like wearing masks makes you less manly. So that leaves officials with but one choice: shut it down. Not only are the right wingers to blame for 1000s of needless deaths, they are also to blame for a good portion of the economic havoc we are experiencing.

I've believed this since the day trump took office. How much white, right-wing violence will there be at the behest of trump following a few well placed dog-whistle comments if he loses in November? As a nation, I don't believe we are prepared to witness it, or to do much about it.
