Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

I think it may be the same source.

Also interesting: when "OH NOES SOCIALISM!!11!" chambers of commerce and city fathers would withhold funds from emergency efforts the population would simply seize the funds and use it to address the problem. Even back then conservatives wanted us to die for business, and there comes a point where people just tell the rich to DIAF.

Good.

I referenced this book earlier, but John Barry's book on the 1918 influenza epidemic is great.

Saw that Florida finally issued a "Stay At Home" order and Alabama and Mississippi followed suit...

Ah, it was you. I knew somebody had brought it up. If you liked it I recommend that clip I posted -- it is based on the book.

I'd have guessed like 25% mortality. I guess it's much, much worse than I thought.

More like 75% mortality for in-hospital arrest (most numbers are for surviving to discharge from the hospital). The numbers are worse out of hospital. That does not account for the morbidity (read brain or other end organ damage) that one suffers from an arrest that is survivable. Do not misread me, we should still do CPR and resuscitate however you are swimming upstream.

This is what happens when people who read Ayn Rand and Murray Rothbard get elected instead of the help they need for their mental illness.

I wish MSNBC would get their heads out of their asses and join the other channels in skipping the airing of Trump's daily self jerk off session.

Hate-watching theory. MSNBC viewers love to hate Trump, so airing his screeds and then letting the prime time lineup comment on them keeps their ratings up.

And you flyovers scoffed when I told you we should round up all the rich...

Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

We're looking at 25,000+ newly confirmed cases today.

And about to pass 5100 deaths. 500 today in NY alone...

BTW Cali is starting its slow climb...when they get closer to their peak look out.

Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

Your post over there was just excellent. I was going to waste my time but I am happy you beat me to it. Top notch.

You should look at statistics for surviving an in hospital cardiac or ventilatory arrest. Its not great.
Agree. Superb post. I stopped looking at that thread. Not enough mental energy to be reminded there are psople that stupid in the world.
Interesting.

Thesis: the 1918 flu started in the US. American soldiers arriving for the war spread it to Europe. Because Spain was neutral their press was free to report deaths while other countries' death rates were censored, so it became known as the "Spanish Flu" because they were the only ones telling the truth.
NPR did a segment on this. It was really interesting.

I hope Jared realizes that when this is over, Trump is going to throw him under the bus harder and faster than Dany Heatley drove into that retaining wall in Atlanta.

Re: Covfefe-19 part 6: Waiting For Advice from Kid Rock and Tiger Woods now.

CDC says more than 25% of cases are symptom-free. While good news for the 25%, that’s a problem for those of us who are at risk. Especially when throat swab PCR tests come up negative when other tests still show positive. I think it was Bass who originally posted the article in the previous thread.

My question is, is someone still contagious if the throat swab comes up negative? Or would we need sputum or lavage tests to come up negative?
